This Receiver is way too overrated. Please people, don't buy this Dolby Digital hpye. I'll stick with my TEAC.

I had the AX-592($400 in turkey) amp for three months or so, before replacing it with an Onkyo 9911($1100). I'm yet not so sure that the improvement i obtained was worth the cost. The 592 had clean power, excellent dynamics and emphasized midrange. When you view the specs it excels many amps in the $1000 price range. However it lacks the delicacy of its expensive brothers, which i dont consider a drawback for its price. It should be the doubtless choice for the price range under $1000..

This cheap ampifier works very, very good. Sound is clean, massive and with mid-fispeakers/Tannoy mc2 or mc3, N.E.A.R 15ME, 20ME is result very good. Buy Kimber
or Wireword-Orbit cables and then sit down in your favorite sofa. You can start with Stanley Clark or Dave Grusin. TRY IT!! Price in Czech crowns-11.800 /$350/

Strength:

It's got a lot of power in it and sounds normaly good.

Weakness:

When you are listening to verry loud music the Yamaha tear the bass and treble from its context especialy when using speakers with a metal dome tweeter.

I have this amp for nearly five years now and I'm still pleased with it, because it can handle a lot.
Over the years I've learned how to get along wiht this amp.
It's verry important which type of music is being played by what volume.
I agree it has that "Yam" sound, but realy with the right speakers(Dali suite 2.5) you'll get the best out of your Yamaha.
With neutral speakers you could think of Bi-wiring connection, if you have MBquart don't even think about it and I suggest you immediately buy other speakers!

I purchased the Yamaha AX-592 about a month ago and have been very pleased with its performance. I did a lot of comparison shopping and listening for several months and I found the 592 to be the best when it came to overall performance and features. When you consider it several hundred dollars less than some that I was considering it is truly a great buy. It has great control on the low end and plenty of punch when needed. The specs are as good or better than any others under $1200.

I compared the Yamaha AX-592 to Acurus DIA 100 & 150, Onkyo Integra integratedamps, Classe CAP-80, and Bryston B-60. I think it's better than all the above
integrated amps with the exception of the Bryston. Price / performance it is
way better than all the "audiophile type" integrateds. This is one of the best
buys in stereo equipment. I now own an AX-592 for which I paid $424.

I bought this amp at a sale for $350 and considering the price I am very happy with the sound. Powerful and clean with very good control. The sound is a little bit hard so use it with soft sounding cables and speakers.

I've used this amp for nearly 2 years now. Its power is very impressive for this range of product. I also like the design, which is simple. However, it really has the "Yam" sound : aggressive, especially in the lows and highs. Its musicality is definitely not a standard. I would recommand it for modern music (especially techno, hard rock, rap) but not for classical music nor jazz. It'll be at its best with neutral speakers. I had "Audio Reference" (French manufacturer, low quality) which went well. Now i got a really wonderful pair of Leedh speakers (really amazing), which shows all the weaknesses of the Yamaha 590. As soon as I can afford it, i will change my amp for a much better one(but certainly more expensive).
