yamaha dsp a1.well now that i have had time to use this unit i have to honestly say i did not give the a1 enough credit.i took a ride up to my audio dealer in lakewood li because he is the only dealer nearby with dts cds.i purchased the allman brothers live at filmore east.i went to many concerts there including that one.i will tell you simply i could not tell the difference between whether i was there or in my living room.for all you digital dolby fans dts puts dolby to shme.i have heard that there have been complaints about the instrument and voices not being placed correctly.i am sorry that is exactly the way it sounded.i think that the a1 has a superior decoder and that the engineers have been very careful in the design.evrything played through the a1 just makes my mouth drop.this unit allows you to ajust anything that you want to exactly tailor your listening enviroment.anyone on the market for a truly fine piece of audio equipment, the yamaha dsp a1 is it.without question it is worth every pennie and more

Geez, this is incredible. After upgrading from my Denon AVR-3200. The dynamics are incredible (but I will miss my 5 channel stereo). THe separation is uncanny....and the thing weighs about 60lbs. Quite a rigid construction. The one thing I wasn't to thrilled with was the remotes programmability in area 1. I want to program the CD button with my Sony ES player but all of the three units in area 1 are locked. So I had to resort to using the LD button (in area 2) for my Sony CD player. Others have complained about this...and I agree. I feels like Yamaha wants you to buy a yamaha CD, DAT/Tape player, tuner. hmmmm. They should have at least gave stick on to label new buttons...Now I have to re-adjust and think the LD button is my CD.
Anyway, other than that...this is an incredible player...worth the price I paid. ($1999 shipped). www.UncleStereo.com (Jimmy). And since this is an integrated amp...I had to get a tuner....I chose the Yamaha tuner (TX-950) for $319 shipped) from the same place.

This receiver makes a really nice paper weight. It holds down many pages at once. Its also great for trash compaction. I'm going to buy another one to anchor my boat. Yeah....That would be cool!

Brian, (Or whoever you are since you use 2 names)
>Denon
>• 140 watts x 5
>• THX Certification
>• 5 CHANNEL STEREO!

140 vs 110? 30 watts differences and you're bitching about it? Com'on, as if you will ever crank it up all the way past 12 o'clock....
THX? Why would I want to spend an extra 1000 bucks just to have George Lucas personally tell me to bend over?
I'd trade 5 channel stereo with DSP anytime of the day, coz this is not Kenwood DSP or a cheap Fisher DSP, it's Yamaha DSP for crying out loud.
DSP = Does Sound Poor??? What a childish comment! No grounding without any reasoning, oh yeah, that would convince people big time!
And Tuner??? When was the last time you use a 2000+ receiver just for the tuner? I never. So I would not care, do you? Anyone out there care?

I dunno how many star for Denon, but definitely 5 star for Yamaha.

Whoever the same person post the 2 posts below is just want to make some difference noices so that people would start a flame war, I suggest we stop it and put some constructive comment (either positive or negative, not something like "This receiver makes a really nice paper weight" etc....)

Peace,
Rheuter

Denon 5600DTS vs. Yamaha DSP-A1?
Denon
• 140 watts x 5
• THX Certification
• 5 CHANNEL STEREO!

Yamaha
• 110 watts x 5
• Too Many DSP Modes - DSP = Does Sound Poor - How many modes can you spank your monkey to?
• No Tuner

Hands down the Denon smokes the Yamaha!
ALL OF YOU GO QUICKLY AND TRADE YOUR YAMAHAS FOR DENON!

Does anyone know how to get a hold of the induvidual who added side chnls to his DSP-A1 by mixing front and rear signals? I tried his email address "garcie@eisa.com.au", and got a reply back saying that it took fatal errors. His review is listed on this page somewhere below. Thanks!!!

Robert Szewczyk, THANKS for your one speaker rating to bring down the average rate of DSP-A1. And best of all, you did this just to because you've got a fatal address error on someone else's email address for Christ sake! Look at this page, almost all people were giving this integrated amp a 5 speakers rating (except one who's giving a four) and now thanks to you it got all mess up! If the webmaster see this message please delete Robert Szewczyk's message so that the ratings will back to normal again.
As far as for the amp itself, boy I love it! Not only I've got a good deal but also the sounds are amazing! Go to your local dealer and check it out, if you cannot affort this one go for the 2095, less beefy but will also blown you away. Back to this unit, besides the sound quality the A/V connections is also well-thought. Lots of room to expand and makes you wanna buy more equipment to hook up to this baby!

For the price it is a 4.5 stars and for the quality it is a solid 5 stars!
