I came across a whole stack of Audio Video equipment that was put to the curb several years ago. VCR's, speakers, monster cable, sub woofers, etc, etc. I did not need any additional gear at the time.but noticed this nice Yamaha amp within the pile. I said what the heck, I'll check it out.

Good golly this is 2012....I was looking for decent speakers for my tube preamp and high current amp and came across BW 805 Matrix selling for $300 used. The owner wanted to sell everything (BW 805 Matrix, BW 805 Center speakers, Paradigm bipolars A200, and the YAMAHA DSP A3090 made in JAPAN not CHINA) for $500. I laughed at the Yamaha when I loaded it in my car. It was very heavy.

Strength:
for the price,it's offer excellent sound for music n for movie (dolby digital) + build quality n looks that u will happily live with, for any price it's offer the best dsp sound in the world (both for music n movie) :-)
Weakness:
no dts, no A/B speaker terminals for main channel, no 5/6 ch external input my system : sony dvd ns530 yamaha 3090 amp b&w matrix 805 main speakers jbl scs150 speakers set let me make it quick.i buy this amp second handed with 100% condition minus box n user manual,to replace my denon 1803 dts-es amp.why?its just i know quality but i dont have the budget, the result is..i dont believe how lucky i am n how sad i would be if i wasn't quick enough to buy this amp,$700-800 still fair,if u dont believe me,just go listen, tell u how it sounds with what cd n what dvd will not give u any good,if u have budget more than $1000,just buy Yamaha (dsp a series or ax series).below that it's up to u to choose.Yamaha amps have the best dsp, expecially the one with front effect (7-8 channel),u should try rock concert/jazz club for music n 70mm dsp for movie, than u will understand,i never turn on the dsp feature from another brand, this 3090 with all transistor power section (80 watts x 5 with only 0,015%thd),sounds excellent,as good as any top of the line japanese integrated amp.build quality n looks is excellent, weight 21kg,the best DSP sound i've ever heard,my second Dolby Digital amp,so no comment for that feature, should be excellent logically,well.. so much to say.. so little time, just read strenghts Similar Products Used: checked out my past! Strength:
Big film soundstage flexable powerfull
Weakness:
sounds very "average" for mucic I bought the 3090 when it first came out because I wanted AC3 decoding and at the time this was just about it trouble was I had to sell my Misson cyrus 3 to get it BIG mistake. For films great but for Hi/fi not close to the Misson I was gutted! Similar Products Used: None |

i bought a 3090 3wks ago, floor model for 1000pls tax.i did an a/b comparison at home against both the dspa1 and the 2095.when listening to stereo the 3090 sounded better than both of them..more detail in the music and it was just as loud as the a1,eventhough it has 80wattts vs 110for the a1.so if you dont care about dts and want a great sounding amp go find a 3090 if you can...also dps modes sounded better on the a1 but i really dont care for those anywa....hey bc c from usa can you please email mail me and tellme where you found one for 1100 brand new...thanks |

Strength:
Solid build, great sound, look/feel, future-ready (did not feel any upgrades necessary for the last 5 years)
Weakness:
Speaker connectors at the rear. A speaker switch (between A and B) would have been nice This is one of my best buys ever and I have bought and sold many audio and video equipment. I bought this to replace my previous Yamaha receiver which was one of their entry level products. I fell in love with their products ever since. And to jump from their entry level receiver to this giant-killer is quite a leap!!!! This beauty was Yamaha's flagship product before they introduced the A1. Strength:
Great sounding musically, nice weight and solid build.
Weakness:
No DTS and 5.1 inputs. This is one of the best sounding integrated amplifier/DSP that I've heard lately. It definetly sounds better than my RXV-995 that I have in my bedroom. The 3090 is used primarly for music (although it may be used for Home Theatre applications later) which it is suited wonderfully for. I got this as a gift for Christmas since I didn't need another Home Theartre Receiver, but wanted a nice integrated amplifier for music and perhaps something else later. The only thing that this unit lack are DTS and 5.1 inputs (again, I don't really use it for that purpose but wound be nice to have). I guess I could of asked for the DSP-A1 but than that would be way more money and, as I heard for some reviewers, less musically sounding. If you want a simple, solid build integrated amplifier with DD (at least you can use the Dolby Digital for Satalite), an outrageous number of surround sound fields, than this is one of the best deals around for under $1000. There may be other reciever out there with more power and perks (DTS), but than you wouldn't get this kind of quality (it is an integrated amplifier, not a reciever!) for the same amount of price/performance ratio. Enjoy. Similar Products Used: Yamaha RXV-995 |
