Very nice looking preamp, the brushed aluminum face is thick making the component seem much more expensive than it is. Sound wise is even better, very wide stage and great tone and this is a stock unit, not even the original tubes have been touched.

This is a phenomenal preamp for the money. I bought this used on EBay for $350 and would have happily twice as much. I was leery of buying a Chinese preamp but when I looked at the pics of how it was wired and put together I wasn't worried any longer. It is true what audiophiles have said about this preamp; it rivals those costing $2k. I swapped the tubes that came with the amp with some inexpensive Tung Sols due to my not knowing how many hours were on the original tubes. Great sound stage and "air" between instruments. Awesome midrange ( I often imagine little acoustic guitarists living inside Allison Fours). Dudes and Dudettes- if you are looking for a tube-pre for under $700 this is your best bet.

Super Pre-amp and very well made. Would cost at least 1k at any UK dealer. Solid aluminium construction. Uses 3 x ecc83 tubes and 1 x rectifier tube for a soft start. Very detailed sounding and dynamic. Brings the music to life.

Amazing pre-amp and one of Hi-Fi's best kept secrets. Very dynamic and incredible detail. Upgrade it from level 2 and it takes on a new dimension. Betters my now sold 2K croft pre-amp by miles. Only downside is there is no uk dealer or distributor so you need to import it from USA or HK and pay duty on top of vat. Still a bargain though.

This preamp is very well made and you would pay 4x the cost for something that competes with this in the UK and Europe. Sound is not typically tube like, i.e it is not fat, warm and coloured. It is dynamic and very detailed like the best solid stage pre-amps but with a large sound stage and no grain or fatigue. Upgrade it with nos tubes, better caps etc makes quite a difference and it then betters hi-end croft units, musical fidelity etc.
