Strength:

Clarity, styling

Accurate musical sound and the styling ain't bad either.

Weakness:

Contour control - any tone controls seem unecessary.

It's my first pre-amp, so I'll just get the ball rolling with the first review and mention what a joy this is to use. The selector knob is wonderful, rock solid and precise, there are indicator lights so you can see where your selector is set, even in a dark room. The remote is terrific and intuitive.

I work with wine for a living and there are many attempts to quantify, score and categorize wine. It's simply ludicrous and I think audio is much the same way. A hedonistoc approach - Do you like it or not? is best. This pre-amp, paired with a Rotel 985 mk II 5 channel Amp that I have bi-amped to a pair of Linn Tukans is as good a threesome as I have heard in the real world. I am familar with a few systems that cost a great deal more and I think the value of the two Rotels and the Linn speakers really shine. My source components now show glaring weaknesses - the Philips dvd/cd is a tad harsh and I am now pre-occupied with replacing it. For the sheer pleasure this pre-amp has brought to my life, I give it the highest rating. All of you more technical types can expound about the sonic details - but the smooth, transparent, musical sound you hear is coming from my living room.

Strength:

styling,clarity,solid build

Weakness:

volume controls to close to power button, if thats a weakness

Have owned this piece for little over a month now and love it. Bought this with the RB-1080(200)wpc amp paired up to klipsch KLF-30's and very pleased. This was my first seperates set-up and I think for the money, this is very hard to beat price/value/sound quality. Dont plan on upgrading for quite awhile....
