I purchased this (used) unit direct from AVA HiFi.

I never appreciated the importance of a good pre-amp until I got this unit. My past pre-amps were Rotel and NAD; perhaps more "mid-fi" than "hifi"--but respectable nonetheless.

I purchased the pre-amp simply because I had (at the time) the 440HC, and I wanted a matched pair. So to be honest, I didn't really expect a lot of difference--but wow was I surprised. Everything was just--better. Better punch (dynamics) and overall clarity.

It's been in my system ever since, and I've never looked back. Recommended without reservation.
