Strength:

by hooking the reciever to a computer you can adjust the bass and treble of all the music you listen to

Weakness:

for the whole time ive owned the stereo ive never found a weakness

This is the best stereo ive ever heard i have a pair of cerwin vega 12's in a car box hooked up to the reciever and i also have a pair of speakers that each have 2 12's in each speacker so that makes 6 total 12's and the Aiwa reciever can push all of them at the same time. All of the speakers that it pushes are all high watts each cerwin vega can handle 800 watts each and each of the regular speakers handle 800 watts each

Strength:

Great power for low price. T-Bass helps boost bass when needed. Also has EQ Curve controls and a Subwoofer preamp to satisfy your low freq. needs. Also great overload protection

Weakness:

None Couldn't get a better reciever for the price

I have my Aiwa AV-S17 connected to a pair of monster DCM 12" 3 way speakers rated at 250 watts rms they could practically chew up any amp, but the aiwa receiver works great with them. Only problems I've had is when i have the T-bass all the way to the 3 step and volume from 35 to 40 my amp will clip and my overload protection will come on but this is due to the power needed to use my speakers

Strength:

this thing has all kinds of features as described previously and even has a subjack and price is GOOD

Weakness:

just got it, havent noticed anything yet

I bgt this unit due to non functional preamp in my KENWOOD component rack system which have had since '85. The KENWOOD had a separate tuner, preamp & amp (125 watt) so the AIWA replaces all three of these. Also decided to get the AIWA 60watt subwoofer while I was there and this cost 130$ and is very nice addition. This unit has all kinds of adjustments for bass, treble and tone so I'm still tuning on that, old preamp had a 7 band eq. so dont know exactly how they compare. So now , I have 100watts vs 125 before, now have remote control and subwoofer that didnt have in old unit, remote is nice & functional & the sub is GREAT. One thing to watch out for is SIZE and fitting into your rack, fits great in mine with no room to spare, the BIG knobs in front just clear the glass door. I do have to use separate remotes for this unit and my JVC CD changer but not a big deal. The only original component in my rack setup is the PHONO and have lots of LPs which do play sometimes & also the speakers are original big 3 way jobs. The setup now is AIWA rec, JVC CD, Pioneer cassette,Kenwood turntable & speakers, AIWA sub.

Strength:

Great bass... Nice features... A/V inputs/outputs... 100W x 2

Weakness:

Remote was a bit confusing at first. Other than that there was nothing worth mentioning.

I think the Aiwa AV-S17 receiver is GREAT! The bass is good at low and high volumes. I get very little distortion at volumes of 40+ (The receiver only goes to 50 and 40 being really loud) There is another problem that may not be apparent at first. Before purchasing ANY high-power amplifier, make sure your speakers will handle the extra punch. I have a pair of speakers that cost more EACH than the receiver did. Keeping that in mind, they still sound great playing MP3s, DVDs, and watching TV. Now back to the receiver. Each of the 6 stereo audio inputs has its own level adjustment (-6dB to +8dB) The use of the receiver is very simple, I didn't even need the instructions to learn how to use all its functions. There is a subwoofer output, which is unusual for competitively prices machines, but I have not taken advantage of it... yet. Overall, considering the price, I think Aiwa has outdone itself. This is a great A/V receiver for anyone looking for good sound at a low price. Enjoy!

$30 sound system from the dollar store. About 2W max powering 140W/each 12" JVC speakers... it was terrible!

Strength:

This system has a lot of features; many inputs, Subwoofer out (which is very nice), T-Bass, Speaker A/B/AB switch, Eco Mode, Very Low Distortion (even at very high volume), Multi-Jog, Great Remote, 100 watts per channel, and is the best for the price.

Weakness:

This Receiver Doesn't have Digital Dolby.

This system can get very loud with no distortion. I think the T-Bass Works fantastic. I got this system for my bedroom, and it is perfect. It is a good choice for a small room, or even a larger room. I Recommend this system for a 'first' receiver, a Dorm room, or just a home sterio.

Strength:

This receiver has a number of features that i found useful.. if you need a receiver for your bedroom .. or a small room.. this is it.. sound quality is good.. and the distortion levels are less.. number of inputs are good.. another feature interesting is the light dimmer function to reduce intensity of the display... also included is an eco mode to save power.. the remote is good too... most functions can be done from it..the unit also allows dual set of speakers to be used ... the looks of unit are very acceptable too.... a sub woofer outlet lets you boost bass which is almost a necessity. the loudness factor of the amplifier is good.. and so is the overall build quality of the receiver

Weakness:

the main thing i found lacking was bass at low levels.. even with the t-bass set to full 3 notches....and bass level set to full you have to drive the amplifier to a greater volume level to get acceptable bass... a low end loudness control would certainly help...also... the tone controls offered for bass and treble seem to make little difference till set to max. though the treble seemed to work quite lineraly.. my ears have been spoilt by my marantz power amp ... i still think this unit has a little low bass response.... also... provision for 2 tape decks has been overlooked.

Overall the unit.. i would say is excellent for its price. its better than the technics and sony and rca and klh which are also 100 X 2.. and at almost the same price range.. i bought mine during a sale... the regular price is $129.99..all the above mentioned receivers fall in this range.. and i strongly feel the aiwa takes the cake ...
