I have had this receiver for almost 4 years now. I was looking for a very good 2-ch audio receiver that can drive 4 ohm Axiom M80 speakers. The combination of these speakers and MH Maven is one of the best I have heard in this price range. I have auditioned B&W driven by Rotel and a lot of other speaker and stereo pre-amp/amp combinations. I found the amp to be quite neutral and provides very good bass extension especially with optical input and upsampling DAC. I replaced 80 wpc Marantz SR4320 with MH Maven (rated 100wpc) and the power difference is just amazing. With AB amplifier, there is a sweet point of linear amplification with respect to volume and I found that at very low volume mids do not stand out as much. In the sweet spot (like vol > 20 for my speakers with 93dB sensitivity), mids are so clear that vocals are charm to listen to. I would highly recommend this receiver for high-end stereo with digital media (hopefully lossless or at least coded above 128kbps)! |

Bought the maven to use with an airport express and 'release' my Mac bound music. The toslink to a built in DAC coupled to a very solid amp was key for me - i hardly ever play CDs or the radio. I thoroughly recommend the maven, excellent sound, well built and more than powerful enough for me. The difference between this and depending on the PC or Mac to convert is like night and day. if you are starting to look for a way to move your music around the house then this is a very good way to go.
