I have had a 9090 for about 10 years now, and it is an awesome reciever. It does not lack for power, and the tuner section is great. Anybody that can find one of these gems should buy it |

MAYBE?.. MAYBE NOT;I DON'T KNOW ,ALL I KNEW WAS THAT I WAS PICKELED,LIKE MY GRANDMA;S CANED BEATS, IT WAS THE 9090 DB THANK GOD |

This "little brither" to the 9090db has all the same perks except the dolby feature and a hair(not even noticeable) less power. See my review of the 9090db and apply it to this receiver too! |

Strength:
Great sounding reciever and built to last
Weakness:
heavy and difficult to clean the controls without taking the unit apart I've had my Sansui 9090 since 1977 and it's still running well. I'm just now upgrading to B&K separates because I just purchased new speakers that need a bit more headroom than the Sansui can put out now. It stills works perfectly and I've never blown even a lightbulb out on it! If my speakers were a bit more efficient, I would not be replacing it. |

Strength:
I will blow your head off if ti is turned up over a quarter turn. It has !!amazing!! sound quality whatever the volume. I seriously mean that, it will pack an enormous bass punch, with clear, crisp treble nomatter the decible.
Weakness:
It's really heavy. It gets hot. Overall, I'd say the Sansui 9090 receiver is a great great stereo. This product is from about 1976 or 1977, the bulbs behind the tuner screen might be burned out, if so, take them to a fix-it shop, it will probably be over 15$, but it will help you see the screen a lot better. The screen is a dark color, it is hard to see with low light. Similar Products Used: I've never used a product like this before, new or old, this is the best. If you see one of these jewels, i suggest you pick it up. |

Strength:
Power and ability to drive multiple speakers at one time. The power meters and tone control setup is very flexible even though I always run the setups flat.
Weakness:
None at all. I purchased my 9090 in 1976. It has run flawlessly, driving various speaker pairs since that time. Currently it drives a pair Hafler 400 loudspeakers creating a soundstage that you simply cannot beleive. Similar Products Used: I don't think that anyone ever produced a competitve receiver. |

Strength:
Loud audio, great power. Crisp and clean at any wattage.
Weakness:
It is really, really heavy. It also gets very hot at high power. I love this receiver. I got it from a friend. He wanted to get rid of it because the tuner didn't work. I had it for awhile and lightning hit the main power and fried a lot inside. I had it all repaird including the tuner section. I will never, ever get rid of this receiver. If you want a decent, good classic receiver, go out and get one. Similar Products Used: never had one that compared to the Sansui 9090DB |

Strength:
I have owned my 9090 since 1977. It has destroyed 2 sets of BIC Formula Six Speakers and now drives a set of Infinity
Weakness:
Heavy, but that is good for impedance! In my opinion the 9090 is tops! I have always felt the 9090DB was built on the cheap end compared to the 9090, but very well made no doubt. The selector switches on the 9090DB Similar Products Used: I would never buy anything else. The sound is not natural with other later brand receivers. |
