I bought my Sansui QRX-777 while stationed in Germany in 1975. It has crossed the Atlantic 5 times, made 11 major moves. I replaced it once, in the 80s, but placed it back in service because it was just too damned good. Yes, it weighs a ton and is not a standard rack size. Who cares. It is still a great unit. Sound is clear, very flexible for inputs and outputs, with two sets of four speakers, plus headphone output, mike input, AM, FM, FM stereo, phono, two tape inputs. About the only thing it doesn't have is an ipod input, but that's fixable. Mine needs work - the tuning knob binds, the 2-channel front output setting doesn't work, and a couple of the dial lights are out, but what would you expect after all that moving? It's going into the repair shop. I will use this unit as long as I live. |
