After enjoying the Benz Micro Gold for eight months, the cantilever broke in the middle of playing an LP. No, I hadn't dropped the tonearm or dragged the stylus across a record, and yes I was the only one who handled the turntable. The cartridge was still within its warranty period, and I returned the cartridge to the U.S. distrbutor with my story. After hearing nothing for two weeks, I called and was told that they hadn't gotten around to doing anything yet but would return the stylus to the manufacturer in Switzerland to look at. After no word for another month I called again and was told that the manufacturer had the cartridge and was looking at it. After another month of silence I called again and was told that the mfg had determined (how they didn't say) that the problem was improper handling and they just "hadn't gotten around to getting back to me." It's not that expensive a cartridge but I wouldn't have another one if you gave it to me. That sort of arrogance is uncalled for and does nothing for their customer relations. |

Strength:
None that I can find
Weakness:
Boring, compressed dynamics, lack of air I have found this cartridge to have an overly laid back,non-resolute sound.Very compressed dynamics. It's just boring.Look elsewhere.Try out cartridges listed at http://www.greshaudio.com Similar Products Used: Grado Ref. |
