Strength:

Dare I say 'crystal clear' treble and mid range. The cartridge is outstanding for the price. Even with a cheap amp it excells.

Weakness:

Looks. It is the usual black platter sort of thing. Not ugly, but looks just like a lot of other sub £200 turntables. Possibly lack of a little bass, but sometimes that's a good thing.

All I can say is if you like the GR1.2 then this will blow you away. I have tried both and there is no comparison. The cartridge is the real difference: the mid range and treble really is sweet. There are dimensions to the sound that you just don't get with cheaper turntables. Not that this is expensive either. Unless cash is scarse it's worth getting this as your starter turntable, as it truly is great value for money. Read the What Hi Fi review and you'll see what I mean. Even used with a really old NAD 302 amp, Wharfedale 7.2 speakers and ancient no-name able this turntable still sounds sweet. It especially suits acoustic, laid back style music over Rock and metal, though it all sounds good.
