Strength:
The most cost effective TT in its price range. Excelent mechanical isolation. Same drive system as used in costlier models.
Weakness:
None at this price point. Upon viewing this turntable in a local dealer showroom, for all practical purposes the mmf 1 is a re-badged version of the famous Projec Debut II turntable marketed under the Pro-Ject name in the UK for the past several years, where it recieved 100% favorable reviews from the audio press.I have been using 2 of these turntables equipped with the Ortofon OM5E cartridge and they do a fantastic job and are un-beatable at this price point. The same motor, bearing & drive system as used in the more costly Pro-Ject models is employed in the mmf 1 as well as the mmf 2.1. The major difference is the tone arm best described as "Basic and no frills " but still more than adequit for something in this price range. The counterweight is adjustable and cartridge mounting is standard 1/2 inch and has a damped quing lever. Speed accuracy is excellent. Thousands of these turntables have been sold in the UK. It is good to see Music Hall importing and selling them here in the USA. It is well worth seeing and auditioning at your nearest dealer. You can't do better in this price range or even the next level up. Similar Products Used: Pro-Ject Debut II , Music Hall mmf2.1 |
