The 6.1 is the second turntable at the top from Pro-Ject(only the new 6.9 being more expensive). At about $550-700
it is affordable, yet has a bag full of goodies:
-3-point spring suspended
-adjustable chassis damping
-metal/felt/glass platter with LP clamp, or
alternatively useable as metal/glass/felt for whoever
wants it like this (why? Beats me, a clamped down LP
just sounds way better than felt!)
-a reasonable arm. Not a Rega RB-300, but competent
nevertheless
-spectacular, open-frame looks (like Michell and Oracle)

I tried it with an Ortofon MC-25FL cartridge. Sound was
stable, open, sweet, with reasonably deep and surely
tight bass. All in all a very good sound, the more so
when you learn that my own TT is a Michell GyroDec,
at $3000 or so.

In short: the 6.1 is the best mid-budget turntable there
is. Forget about the Rega, forget about the Thorens. This
one is IT.
