Strength:

Excellent built-in preamp

Weakness:

Nearly everything else

The Sony PS-J11 is a cheap, easy way to get back into vinyl. I don't think Sony sells it anymore though. It's made of VERY cheap plastic and an inexpensive tonearm, so expect plenty of rumble, clicks, pops and other noises. However, strong points include a suprisingly good built in preamp (best 'integrated' I've ever heard), very stable motor, adjustable 33 and 45RPM speeds (via screws on the bottom) and replaceable belt. Also, the unit is VERY small, the platter is the size of a 45. This has more disadvantages than advantages (warped records nearly impossible to play), but if you're looking for something to dub those old records to digital, you could do a lot worse than the PS-J11. By the way, the replacement stylus (needle) for this model is the Fisher-Sanyo ST-09D, easily available from www.needledoctor.com and other online sources.
