Strength:

My experience of this turntable is similar to those expressed in the excellent reviews in the Hi Fi media for the acrylic version, so I suspect that the wood veneered versions are just as good, with added wife appeal! www.junkitmobile.net

Weakness:

None . .

Strength:

Overall good price for a turntable currently in the market, you get much better result with a quality cable other than supplied with the product.

Strength:

Great turntable! Looks to be based on the Technics 1200 turntable of old. Not quite as technical with less features, however. Belt drive means it is very quiet running. Plenty of adjustability enables the listener to get perfect sound from their records though. Strobe light is a great feature. In my opinion, it just looks like a great turntable too. Better than the all-frills Technics 1200 or Audio Technica 120LP. Mostly black/minimalist is very cool, with chrome accents on the counterweight and tone arm. I've meticulously set up my turntable and get terrific sound (with ablack Audio Technica ATVM95E cartridge installed, looks even sleeker!) and aligned correctly with a protractor.

Weakness:

It seems like quite a weighty turntable, and would benefit from better dampening in the supports. This is a minor issue in the grand scheme of things though.

Strength:

Simple to use & very little to go wrong with it. S-shaped tonearm with detachable head shell for easy cartridge upgrade. Anti-skate & counter weight adjustment. Gold plated RCA connections, so better quality interconnects can be used.

Weakness:

None really. Good, honest, what you see is what you get turntable.

Strength:

.it looks like a proper DJ deck but it is not. If you can get one dirt cheap then fine, otherwise I would avoid.

Weakness:

just taken one of these apart; oh dear. truly awful light plastic construction everywhere except for a very heavy metal plate which lines the base and adds nothing to bearing and arm mechanical integrity

After Panasonic ceased productions of their legendary SL 1200 turntables, did Sony come along and buy all their factory assembly tools and re-badge this turntable as a Sony? It looks 90% alike to the Technics. Very happy with the product.

I bought this Turntable as a replacement for my Denon that I paid 600 bucks for back in 2003. The Denon rotted after the storage space I had it in had a water leak and ruined it. I expected to pluck down another 600 dollars until I came across this Turntable. I bought it for a 165.00 from J&R including shipping. I was able to salvage my Audio Technica AT-440 from the Denon and Installed it on this unit and removed the cheap 25 dollar cartridge that came with it. I can tell you, that there is not a difference in sound between this and the Denon. I am so happy to be able to listen to my LPs without having to pay such a high price. I hope Sony sticks by the turntable and keep producing it.
