Strength:

stability, ease of use

Weakness:

none

I was browsing through this website when I came across a rather scathing review of the SOTA sapphire turntable. Jeez, you'd think it was a cheap plastic direct drive table from a mass-market manufacturer. It's not. This is a really nice table that I've used for over a decade very happily. I've heard complaints about it's lack of "tunefulness" and stuff like that but what it provides is a very stable platform that allows the cartridge to do its thing. Are there better tables out there? Probably, but if you want a table that doesn't skip when someone walks by, a table that holds its alignment, a table that allows you to listen to the differences between cartridges, preamps, etc. then give it a listen. Over the last ten years I have completely overhauled my sound system, changing every possible component, interconnect, etc. but I never get the urge to get another turntable. (I don't even read the reviews!)

If I ever get another turntable it will be a SOTA star. Nuff said.
