    Strength:

Seperate motor assembly. Great tone arm. Pehnomenal sound.

    Weakness:

You will want to upgrade everything else you own (an ARC pre-amp gave me a much better phono stage than my old NAD, I'm in the process of re-listening to all my LP's - you can't believe how good "The Band" or "Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks" sound, or how much music their is hiding down in those grooves')

Based on what I have read and seen of availability, I received a fairly early production model. I had tried to get an older AR ES-1 back into use, and found that the cost of replacing a bad tonearm made it worthwhile to get a new table. I called VPI to ask about a Jr., they suggested I look at a Scout. I can highly recommend this table. The sound is absolutely phenomenal. I'm amazed every time I cue up a good LP. The detail of the music leaps out (on some bad LP's this can be a problem). The design is incredible, seperate motor assembly, a unipivot arm with adjustable VTA. My only problem is that it has led me down a road of system upgrades that may turn me into one of the Vinyl geeks that I observe in "Vinyl Asylum" - "not that that's a bad thing." Seriously, wether you are returning to Vinyl, or want to upgrade to include some of the new design features on the most current tables, this is a great buy. It is easy to set up, allows tweaks if you feel the need, and will give you a level of sound you never thought possible, especially if the last time you played a record you had a quarter taped to the tone arm to get it over that "skip" in the third cut of "Workingman's Dead." Some of your old albums will give you a sound you can not get from anything else. This table can take you there.
