After perusing the many arguments positioning physics vs. perceived sound quality, I developed my own opinions about cabling. Then, a few months later, I was enjoying some Alice In Chains on my Carver AL-III+ speakers, and noticed slight, periodic distortion in the sound. After trying numerous speaker-channel-interconnect combinations with my existing equipment, the culprits proved to be my cheap-ass Radio Shack "gold-plated" RCA cables. So I decided to cut the mothers open to see how the things were made. What a crappy cable design for ANY electrical application! Physics OR perceived sound quality-- IN ANY CASE, you need good copper twisting and proper shielding to prevent outside noise from being introduced . . And, after looking at a cross-section of the Radion Shack cables, I wouldn't trust those in a cable run of 6" . . .So, I invested in some DHLabs BL-1 Series II interconnects-- Not so much that DH Labs' copper carries electrons better than Radio Shacks' copper, but the BL-I Series II are engineered VERY professionally, with tremendous attention to proper twisting, good shielding, and solid termination . . And I couldn't be happier with the crispness and confidence in the resulting sound . . .

Having read the reviews here, I decided to give these cables a try -- and, boy, everything that was written here turned out to be true. Not that my previosu sound was bad, by no means: I had great clarity and precision of tone, but the whole was a tad too analytical and slightly imbalanced in favor of trebles . I though this might be my speakers' problem, for some have observed this problem with the Gallo Nucleus I own. Putting in the DHLabs BL1 series II immediately overcame all these problems: finally, the music was not only clear, but balanced, total -- in one word, musical. These cables are very good and very cheap (they replaced some significantly more expensive custom-made cables from my dealer) -- there's no doubt in my mind that they're absolutely worth 5 stars.

These are very good cables for the price. Very nice and detailed highs (without being too bright) and excellent bass. These interconnects outperform many higher priced cables. This is the beggining point for truely Hi-fidelity.

I loved these cables. I then bought a used pair of Kimber KCAG and liked them better. They have more detail, but turned out to be alittle bright. So I followed many others and got a pair of D Lin (now Silver Audio) silver bullet 4.0's. Those are awesome.
But I digress. If you don't have around $250 or $300 to spend on interconnects the DH Labs is the giant killer of the cable market. I still have my DH Labs T-14 speaker cables.

For $99 (less used or new from a discount dealer) these are hard to beat. There are better out there, but for your average joe audiophile with a sub $4K or $5K there is nothing even close.

4 for sound, 5 for value (but of course the sound is what is important)

Strength:

Neutral tonal balance. Extended from top to bottom. Double sheilded. Quality connectors.

Weakness:

Highs could be a little sweeter.

These cables are far better than you would expect at this price point. Don't let the budget price fool you, the Silver Sonics have big performance, and will be revealing of weaknesses in your rig.

Strength:

Amazing musical details revealed; very affordable price compared with other brands.

Weakness:

Didn't come with instructions regarding significant directionality properties of cable.

Before you spend big bucks to upgrade your system, try spending about a buck and a half on DH Labs BL1 Series II interconnect cable.

My Sony ES CD player has single-ended outputs, so I'm connecting 1.5 meters of BL1 to my BAT VK30 preamp using RCA plugs. You have to observe the arrows on each cable, making sure they're all pointing in the same direction. This is because the BL1 starts out as balanced cable with a common shield. In single-ended applications the arrows should point towards the grounded end, while the other end of the shield remains floating.

You'll have to experiment with which direction sounds better. Once you've done so, the improvement will be astonishing. I heard and felt room-filling bass that I never knew was there. Details revealed in instruments, vocalists, and choruses made them sound significantly more realistic, which is what it's all about. As a bonus, system noise is practically inaudible.

DH Labs' cable has helped me to discover hidden treasures in my sound system - and at very reasonable cost. Audio Concepts (www.audioc.com) has been my dealer. You're not going to find a more professional resource on the Internet.

Only after a full breaking of more than a week, i realized that the DH LABS BL-1 interconnect was great for the price. Used on my kinergetic kcd-40, it is a worhtwile improvement over my audioquest turquoise 2. The main quality of this interconnect is the control of the sound. The sound remains controled from the bottom end to the top. Other qualities are his neutrality, his resolution of details (which help for the great timbre) and his solid and deep bottom end. It is also not to bright on the upper mid but has extended (but smooth) highs. It is a strong partner to kimber pbj which i used between my BRYSTON amp and preamp. The combination of dh labs bl-1 series II and kimber PBJ produce a very well balanced and detailed sound with solid bottom end. Voices are amazing!!!

Replaced a MonsterCable Interlink CD cable with the 1m DH BL1 Series II. Much more laid-back. Smoothness! High end is crisper, yet not as harsh. More depth. I hated like hell to put 90 bucks into a 4 RCA's with a little plastic and metal thrown in (the wire), but I also hate to admit, they do make a difference. Now I'm gonna get a pair for the pre-power amp connection with XLR balanced. Anybody want a free set of Monster Cable INterlink CD Interconnects?
Nice RCA's as well.
Associated Equipment:

Yamaha 755 CD (Next to worst link in chain?)
Yamaha CX600u (worst link in chain?)
Cinepro 600x2SE (Worth every penny)
Legacy Focus (Speed with Bass!)

Dh Labs T-14 speaker cableJust got my bi-wire pair today, and I can honestly say that my system sounds more liquid, more alive and articulate. What a great product for the price! Highs are very smooth, yet detailed. No harshness here. I am using a Rega planet and a Rotel amp currently. (my DNA-1 is with Steve M getting up-graded) can wait to hear that set-up.
