I just got these cables. After hearing the difference with the T-14 speaker cables I had to upgrade all my cables to D.H Lab. I was very skeptical about the whole cable business but I was so mistaken. Once I heard the T-14 speaker cable I immediately noticed the clarity and air I was hearing in my music. Bass became more refined and less boomy with tightness to it. Now that I installed the BL1 connectors IM in music heaven. Air, Air, Air around every instrument and the bass is tight as can be with Clarity that I only dreamed of. I can’t believe these affordable cables bring my system performance to Levels that I heard on the most expensive systems. Its just amazing what these Cables can do. The difference is noticeable immediately after installation. They say that cables need to break in but I am so happy with it now, I can’t imagine what else I should expect in the future after break-in. For what these cables have done to my system I would give it 10 stars if I could. Simply the best wire you can give to your audio equipment. I just hope they keep prices low because I need more cable. I am simply hooked on D.H Lab.

Weakness:

Harsh highs. Lacks the ability to capture fine nuances and detail in an honest way.

Wouldn't it be easy if there was one cable in a specific price range that worked great in all systems. But unfortunately, as others have pointed out here, interconnects are extremely system dependent and scrupulous testing is necessary. Sadly, for lovers of good sound, this adds more problems to our neurotic nature.
In my forward, honest system, Rega Planet 2000 CD player, Rega Mira 2000 integrated amp and Vandersteen 1C speakers the DH Labs didn't work. After burning them for three days straight before a serious listen I found the bass was very good but the highs were excessively sharp, colored and lacking in fine detail. This was especially evident with vocals.
These cables are good value for the money and one will immediately notice a great improvement over stock ones, but if your system leans on the bright side you should use them with caution. If you feel your system needs more life you should give them a listen.
I finally settled on NBS Dragon Fly cables ($150 meter). They are virtually uncolored yet lively, rich and beautifully detailed.

Weakness:

Can be a little cold

I had long been a fan of DH Labs Silversonic T-14 speaker cable, which are run bi-wired to my Sonus Faber Concertinos. So when I was searching for a cable to hook between my Musical Fidelity Electra E60 CD player and Sim Audio Moon I-5 integrated amp I eventually tried the BL-1.

Prior to this I had used the Kimber PBJ, Tara Prism 22 and Monster M550i and Z cables. In comparison I felt the PBJ were too lean for me. The Monster cables were a bit cold. And the Tara had compressed dynamics and sounded dull.

Enter the BL-1. After a break-in period of two weeks, the DH Labs showed a very nice, focused soundstage with very little coloration. Smoother than the PBJ and more lively than the Monsters. Unfortunately, after a few months of listening I realized in my setup the DH Labs were still a sometimes bit too sibilant on the top end. My tastes run towards the warm side. I tried the Cardas Microtwin, and they were very different from the BL-1. The Microtwin were fuller, warmer and easier to listen to for extended periods. But overall they sounded veiled and bloated through the midbass.

After reading many rave reviews I decided to buy the Cardas Golden Cross. I had hoped to avoid spending so much for a cable but I felt I had no choice. The Golden Cross have done the trick for me. They are very smooth and detailed. They are the most emoptional cables I have owned. I can listen for hours and just enjoy the music

While my personal favorite is definitely the Golden Cross, it is impossible for me to give the DH Labs BL-1 a less than 5 star review. Getting satisfying results becomes a matter of finding the right match in a system. Not all cables work well in all sstups. The DH Labs are very neutral and I think they are an ideal place to start when looking for a budget cable. In the months I used them I was treated to a very lively presentation with open dynamics and great detail.

Dollar for dollar, I have not heard a better cable. The Cardas I eventually settled on are 10 times the cost of the DH Labs. If money is a big factor audition a pair of BL-1s and see what you think.

Strength:

Clear sound, build quality, dynamics

Weakness:

None so far

This interconnect is a very well made product that has excellent sound-very smooth and transparent with great detail. The dynamics in the music are allowed to come through and it breaks in very nicely. I have these hooked up between my amp(Outlaw 750) and my Yamaha receiver. I got them at Value Audio and Jeff Delman has excellent customer service and does quality work.

Damn good cables! I ordered the DHLabs BL-1 Series II from www.audioc.com when I was informed by DHLabs that there are no audio dealers in my local area that stock these cables. Such a shame because these are the most musical cables that I have come across and they should be more widely available to the audio buying community.
The DHLabs cables have replaced a pair of Kimber Silver Streak cables that I had been using to connect my CAL Audio DX-2 CD player to a Van Alstine Super Pas 3i tube preamp. From my choice of components, you can tell that I lean towards warm sounding equipment. To me, music that pleases is more important than music that reveals every flaw in the audio chain.

The DHLabs cables are pleasing indeed. They outclass the Kimber Silver Streak in their ability to convey the musical experience. By contrast, the Silver Streaks are analytical sounding with a tendency to sound a little harsh in the upper midrange and they have a tendency to make vocals sound thin. With my equipment, anyway, a recording such as one by Andrea Bocelli would grate on my ears through the Silver Streaks -- revealing music, yes, but not at all pleasing.

Tenor arias just sound right with the DHLabs cables. The voice is smooth with richness and body to the midrange. Soundstaging is also excellent with great depth. Instruments and performers are holographically placed where they should be. The Silver Streaks also presented an excellent sound stage, but there seems to be more bass punch delivered through the DHLabs cables and a more realistic (not so tinny) rendition of cymbals in the background.

A word of warning: The DHLabs cables need to broken in for a few days. They were just as grating as the Silver Streaks when I first connected them, but, later, they transformed themselves into velvety smooth sounding interconnects.

Strength:

totally transparent, connects you to the music

Weakness:

a lower price would make a true bargain, but worth the money nonetheless

These interconnects are fanatastic even with out any break-in. The soundstage is free and open and the imaging precise. The sound is balanced, well-defined and quite detailed. Musically involving.

Basically, these cables just get out of the way and let the music works its magic. It clears up all the haze and distortions that other cables put between you and the music.

Strength:

Better than my current interconnect, bass detail,

Weakness:

produce lack natural (specially in piano sound), it has an addition in sound, and lack detail for faster mid-high frequency transient.

I don't understand that so many reviews says that this cable is very good (this why I purchased the cables)
I compared this cable with Cardas 2x21 ga (same price with this cable), Cardas is very smooth, detailed, and I can hear the piano tuts knock at the string clearly and detail in fast played like one by one knocking, but with BL-1 its like slidding, I cannot hear the " one by one knocking" clearly.
I compared Cardas 2x21 with Goertz, Cardas is closer with Goertz in detail (but Goertz has a very disturbing interference in my sistem).

My sistem:
- NAD T550 (dvd)I also play CD here
- Panasonic CD player SL-S490
- Technic Integrated Amp SU-V60
- Tube pre-amp (DIY-project)
- Adcom Powr Amp GFA-545
- Wharfedale Diamond V
- A high end DIY speaker project use Vifa P17WJ with high grade Capacitor and a British cooper for coil

Strength:

bass, warm mids, smooth treble

Weakness:

none

one word summary: "WOW"!

the warmth of this cable is the biggest difference to my ears. bass is tighter and a bit more clear over my WW. the treble sounds smoother--detailed but not at all overbright.

but the mids are crowning glory of this wire. best description of the mids = more forward. this cable pulls out the voacls more than any other cable i've heard.

i think this is a great cable to bring some analogue-like warmth to digital sources.

of course, as with any IC, the differences will not be "night and day". but you simply can't beat these if you can pick them up for under $50 for .5 meter.

I ordered these cabels for few days from
www.audic.com
I tested also some Audioquest and Esoteric 500 but these silver sonics sound better than all I heared before.
Good highs fast bass.
I `am still waiting for a pair of
T-14 `s Biwire-cabels to complete my system.
I think the BL 1`s need some days to burn in but after 10 hours of straight
using they sound better and better.

Good product for a great price.

THANK YOU DH-LABS

Upgraded to these from 20 dollar Monster interconnects. One word describes the difference--WOW-- they really opened up my listening room. Now I know what people say about "air" around the instruments. Lower and tighter bass, more natural highs, I couldn't be happier.
