Strength:

build quality. RCA connectors. transperent

Weakness:

none

From the moment I put these wires between my CD player and receiver, I noticed a difference. The cable does not favor any frequencies. When I wanted an interconnect, I wanted one that is transperent. The Hero cable seems to be good in the entire frequency range. While I didnt' hear a drastic improvement, I blame my receiver for that. My Rotel CD player and Hero interconnects are better then my 4 year old Yamaha receiver. I hope that once I upgrade the receiver, I will get what I paid for from the CD player and the Hero cables.

Bought a .5 meter Hero cable to replace a 1 meter PBJ I was using between my rotel CD player and rotel preamp.
Took the Hero back and replaced it with a .5 meter PBJ. In my system (all rotel and energy C-2's w/KSW 150 sub) the Hero cable imparted a very noticable grain to the midrange and highs.
I allowed the cables to burn in and no change to the graininess. Speakers are bi-wired with 4TC and Zap 3 cables.
The graininess was so noticeable that I no longer wanted to listen to the system anymore. Put the PBJ back and its musical again. My system stays on 24/7.

Good points-I noticed an increase in detail with the Hero due to what I think is a faster transient response of the cable. Unfortunately the increased detail was not worth the added graininess.

I have found that the Kimber Hero and KC-1 both make very good preamp to poweramp connections and find them better than the silver series of Kimber due to their tipped up high freq.,but the other two work amazingly well for the pre-power connection in many varied systems.Dynamic, airy,VG bass. Not to be used as source interconnect though.

I have compared many cables in my own system including several costing more than these. The Hero is what I decided to keep as a reference in my Home Theater. They don't hide any harshness in your system AT ALL! But with decent equipment, they are an excellent value in a cable. Plus they look pretty cool, too. This is the cable I would recommend for someone looking to spend less than $180/meter.

Strength:

Detailed, lively.

Weakness:

Not much bass extension, lack of punch.

A little too bright in my system. lack that punchy bass that I love. However, offers the detail.

Strength:

clarity, neutrality, overall quality of sound

Weakness:

for what I like, NONE!

I love the Hero Kables. They serve my needs to the fullest. I do not like the brightness of PBJ's. I like the clarity and smoothness of the Hero's and this was the first night I opened them. I took a tip from a friend of mine and broke them in overnite(put on a good song and repeat it over and over with the volume down). After they were broken in (took about 30 hours for me) I could tell I made the right decision.
My set up is where I need a 2M cable and therefore, I can not afford the KCAG, but after listening to Nina Simone with the Hero's, who wants to pay that kind of money.

HERO's are the best cables in the $150-200 range. Take my advice and get them over the PBJ's or even the Silver Streak's.
