Strength:

good balance, excellent speed/pace. Tight bass(though limited extenion), a fun, lively cable.

Weakness:

Glad I only paid 1/2 price, dosent sound realistic, puts a sheen on everything. I still prefer the half it's price Monster M850i,same balance, more detail, more realistic!

The Kimber Silver Streak is the 4th, and (most expensive) interconnect I've tried in my new MID-FI system. NAD C370, NAD541i cd player, NHT 2.9 speakers. This is the strangest sounding cable! It's fast. It's slick. It makes the music seem as if it comes out on greased rails. I let the thing burn-in for 2 day's solid before doing any listening. The first thing I noticed, was the change in how the flow of the music had seemed to have smoothed out, with lot's of detail, a good balance from top to bottom. I agree with other reviews, that it could sound bright in some systems. I found the over all effect a little hypnotic, a nice cable for a sluggish system with flabby bass. I would not use it between pre-amp and amp.

Strength:

transparent, highly detailed but not fatiguing

Weakness:

have to get back to you on this one

I normally give a nice long write up but... two words "Holy Crap!" :D If KCAG is better than this, I don't care. I'm using two .5M balanced pairs between my DAC-Pre-Amp and the improvement over the Hero is unreal. If your system is where you want it, these come highly recommended. If you feel your system is overly bright or loose see the Hero. Regis Poirier

Strength:

Nice and open sound, tight bass. Get the sound of silver interconnects with a reasonable price tag.

Weakness:

Can add character to the sound. Poor shielding. Not exactly the best for the price. Not recommended for use between turntable and phono stage.

I''ve had them for a good few years now. They are very good indeed for tube equipments. Nice and tight for mid and low freq. Treble isn''t bad too. The only problem is it offers poor shielding. Tend to add character to the signal though (in a way not a good thing). Nice and bendy unlike some big thick cables. Offers nice and open sound esp with tube equip.

Strength:

Easy to connect, neutral, accurate, transparent full sound, especially in the mid-range and treble. Nice tight bass.
Five star rating is for this cable in the $150-$200 price range.

Weakness:

Looks weird, because there is no big jacket for the whole set of cables. Each individual cable is jacketed, but I'm used to seeing all of them in one large jacket.

I had been using Vampire Wire OSC silver 1.0 m interconnects ($125) for my CD player and just for the hell of it I decided to try some Kimber Kable Hero ($140) in 1.0 m length, which I purchased from Audio Advisor. They have a 30-day money back guarantee, so I figured what could
I lose.

Of the higher end interconnects priced between $100-$150 which could be purchase locally Monster and Vampire Wire are the only choices. I figured it's always good to broaden my horizons and try something new.

After breaking in the Kimber as best as I could I could tell there is a noticeable diffenece over the Vampire OSC. The Hero has better accuracy, imaging, transparancy and a noticeably fuller sound, especially in the mid-range. It can be best described as having arm rich full tones without being harsh or overly bright. This is more noticeable with rock, acoustic and alternative music. It's not a huge difference, but noticeable.

I still felt the Hero was lacking in the bass, so I decided to try the Kimber Kable Silver Streak in .5mm ($150), which was only $10 more than the 1.0mm Hero. The Silver Streak is noticeably better than the Hero. The bass that was missing with the Hero is there with the Silver Streak. A lot flatter neutral response with the Silver.

The Hero sounded airier, but I think it's more because of coloration or lack of accurate sound reproduction in the mid & treble ranges more than anything else.

Delores O'Riordan's voice on the Cranberries "Bury the Hatchett" CD is so much clearer and open with the Silver. The Hero cable sounds good, but the Silver reproduces better. However, if you like the colored sound you might not like the very accurate Silver streak. The Silver combined the best of the Hero and Vampire OSC.

Kimber uses WBT connectors that are easy to use and provides a firm grip to the components plugs.

The only thing I diliked from a purely cosmetic point is the Silver Streak doesn't have one wiring jacket to enclose all there separate wires. Each set is jacketed, but not all three at once and I'm just not use to seeing interconnects like that.

I think I'll change my rating of the Kimber Kable Hero to four stars and make the Silver Streak a five star in the mid-$100 price range. I like it and would buy it again.

They sound better than anything for the money. Great full range sound, great soundstage, dynamics, and timbre. Take them home and try them with the 4TC speaker cables. I did and didn't bring them back.

Strength:

More detail and focus than hi-pure copper
Delicate, quick, and musical

Weakness:

Virtually un-shielded as whole

These cables make a difference in smoothing the harsh graininess that is common in most copper cables. I especially noticed the difference in the upper-midrange frequencies and all the way up to the top where its alot better than my Monster Cable which smeared everything out. The silver conductor keeps details clean, precise, and consistent.
Sound has improved a great deal with less noise and more localization. I've also noticed more timbral accuracy and more resonant tones from my system with these cables.
These cables aren't high priced at all. I bought the .5-meter pair w/ WBT-0147 connections. Don't forget burn-in. :)

The Kimber silver streak is a great cable to start with. KCAG is marginally better but I know a somewhat cheaper alternative for those who can handle a soldering iron...Make a four wire braid using 2 of kimber's silver wires for signal and 2 of the regular TC wires for ground. Kimber's Hero cable is a 4 wire braid in case you need some help with the configuration. And remember, it should be counter-rotating so if it looks funny and not elegant like Kimber's stuff, then you did it wrong! This set up beats even the KCAG! My sound stage has opened way out to the walls! Bass is deeper and tighter. In short this is a fantastic DIY interconnect! If you like things done for you then stick with the original silver streak. It's still a bargain!

MAY BE TO BRIGHT IN SOME SYSTEMS.

I COULD HEAR A DIFFERENCE OVER MY KIMBER HERO WITH IN ABOUT 20 SECONDS OF THE 1ST TRACK.THE VOICES WERE MOVED TO THE FRONT OF THE SOUNDSTAGE.I COULD HEAR SOUNDS THAT I HAD NOT HEARD BEFORE.I THEN TRIED THEM ON MY MARANTZ ST-17 TUNER AND WAS JUST AS IMPRESSED.THEY DO NEED TO BE BROKEN IN.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Strength:

much better than hero which I thought was more crisp than pbj. Very clear lovely natural but detailed treble

Weakness:

none found yet

A BIG stepup from the Hero Cable. The Hero gives the treble a harshness(could be my Legato link Pioneer CD player though)that grates. The Silver streaks are wonderfully neutral yet warm and detailed(!). They seem to both bring out the clarity but not at the expense of musicality. These cables sound really smoooth.
