This is the coax cable with "f" connectors. Excellent performance; I use it to connect my video equipment to cable feed and between DVD rec/player, svhs vcr, and tv. No rfi interference; great sharpness and color.

Good value for $20, makes a tolerable coax audio cable, very good DVD playback.

Not that great for composite video. Not a $500 high-end audio cable, but Ok in a pinch.

I note some misunderstanding in some reviews here about what a "coaxial cable" is, they are/are not "video" cables, are/are not audio, etc., etc. Checking out this AR with an electronics guy, we find that these are solid-core copper 100-ohm coax cables with RCA plugs each end. They can be used for coax video, audio, and data connections. I connected them to my VCR composite video out; sharp picture, filters out blue and gives tv picture a mild but visible magenta (pink) cast (If your picture source is bad to begin with, such as the typical, crumby antenna wire, don't expect much; this cable accurately reproduces every aspect of a poor source signal). With a good signal, picture is sharper but with a subtle loss of contrast that I didn't care for. But...surprise! Worked quite well as a digital coax between my CD and MSB DAC - very listenable, with slight loss of detail, slightly shallow soundstage. Mild glare in the upper midrange, but never harsh or bright (and I am comparing a $20 cable to a $200 high-end job!). Much better than the $80 Monster M1000d as DC-to-DAC cable. Also used this for DVD playback - HUGE improvement over the cheapies that came with the player, but I still didn't like the subtle magenta cast. Have to give this a "high 3" for both value and performance, though they are a giant leap beyond cheapo, maker-supplied cables. Can't go wrong for $20. Also beats any of Monster's video cables, which are truly disgusting. Want better? Start thinking about refinancing your home.

I HAVE TO SAY THAT DIGITAL COAXIAL CABLES ARE FOR SOUND "NOT THE PICTURE".I had to laugh when I came to this page quite awhile ago and noticed that people were saying that a digital coaxial cable was improving the picture quality of their TV because it has nothing to do with it.It is only for sound and S-Video is for picture quality.Anyways they do a great job at providing sound for Digital boxes,DVD,CD Players and so on.I use them because I prefer them over Monster but if I had the money I would go with Nordost but for $100 more I can do without.They do a better job than most for far less money and they will give you a great improvment over the cables that come with the gear.I also use their Optiacal for my CD recorder and also their regular audio cables and have had great luck with all of them and have had no buzzzz or hisses and a fairly well balanced sound and I would highly recommend them.I wouldn't recommend anything else until you get up into the $150-$200 range because these cables simply belie their asking price.Thanks

PS I get many people asking me if they should use Optical or digital Coax and really I preffer the Coax just because they are stronger but use what you want because their is many different theories and they all make sense.

Fullness of sound

Not totally neutral. Slight color added is pleasant.Rubber grip ring on connectors will come off (no big deal really).

I use this cable as a digital interconnect between a Revox player and ARC DAC. It has robust bass with a bit of (roundness added). Fine highs. Vocals tend to stay neutral. Very easy to listen to. The type of product you soon forget about and just get into the music. Old reliable as I keep coming back to it.



For the price alone you ought to have one. Good connectors but outer cover reflects price. The design philosophy reminds me of the AR 90s speakers I used to have (forget the hardware and enjoy!). Bravo AR.

Note to Brian and others: These are Coaxial Video Cables. Coaxial means the cable has a solid core instead of many small multi-threads like you get for speakers cable or interconnets. Do you have a VCR, Cable TV or a Satellite Dish. That black cable with F Connetions that connects the Cable TV or Satellite is Coaxial cable. The solid core is obvious if you remove the cable and look at the center core. These cables are the same basic contruction except they have RCA plugs. This is the proper type of cable. Solid core cable is the best way to get a good 75 Ohm cable, which is needed for good video. Yes, Digital cable is usually 75 Ohm and 110 Ohm. The 75 Ohm digital coax cable is basically the same solid core cable.

Bought this at my local Lowes store to replace my old and worn out coaxial cable. I have an older model t.v. that does not have RCA or S-Video inputs, just one coaxial input. I am not using it for sound, because I have my DSS hooked directly in my reciever. I wanted better picture quality and boy did the Acoustic Research deliver! I was skeptical when I purchased it, but as soon as it was hooked up, I was very happy. The colors were brighter and the picture was all aroung sharper. Absolutely perfect for older televisions with no RCA inputs. I would recommend these cables to everyone who wants a better picture.

I used the cheap cables at first till I got my order from www.AVConnect.com. WOW, what an improvement. I thought that I had a new TV in fromt of me. It was clear before or so I thought, but now it's almost like watching HD TV. Everthing is so crisp & clear. I'm thoroughly impressed with the vast improvment without having to spend all the money that Monster or others would have cost. Hihgly recommend!!!! I paid $12 for 3' and $15 for 6'.
