Strength:

Good bass, good midrange.

Weakness:

Bright highs, lean imaging

I have a system very similar to that below,

Musical Fidelity X-RAY 24/96 CD Player
Musical Fidelity X-P100 Preamp
Musical Fidelity X-AS100 monoblocks
PSB Goldi speakers

With Pure Silver sound Quartet interconnects (similar to the hyacinth, which I also tried, good but expensive).

I didn't have the same experience though. i enjoyed the midrange of the Silver Oval, female voices especially. However the top seemed bright and the soundstage and imaging weren't as precise as I like. I had them on loan and finally decided to try all silver so I saved up for the pure silver sound Octets (actually less money then the silver ovals) read my review of those cables.

These sound good, but cost too much.

Strength:

Absolute Nuetrality
Very Musical
Articulate bass
Very detailed without any edge.

Weakness:

None that I can detect.

Amazingly nuetral and musical at the same time. I believe these are the best cables I've ever used, at any price. Everything else I've owned has had some kind of problem. Either it was bright, or fat in the bass, or veiled, or just didn't sound like music. This product is completely neutral yet musical, has articulate bass down to the lowest note, and is as transparent as I've ever heard.

One thing I do notice is that some people complain that the bass isn't as good as their old cable. My guess is that they were using cables that were slower in the bass, making for a slight elevated presentation in that area. This is also very common with new amplifiers, sometimes they are quicker and therefor don't sound like they have as much bass. The solution is to simply adjust your speakers by a few inches, compensating for the quicker and cleaner bass. I found out a long time ago that any time I switch a piece of gear that I also have to readjust my speaker in some way. Since no product is perfect, this seems to make complete sense to me.

No names. I've used or demo'd many of the top brands over the last 5 years, finally finding something I can keep for the long haul. From $450 - $3000.

Strength:

Musicality

Weakness:

Hard to connect to B&W binding posts - not enough length.

I have bi-wired my B&W's with 12' Silver Ovals on the top, and 12' Oval 9's on the bottom. I noticed immediately the following: Increased dynamics, increased detail, and overall increased musicallity.

The improved dynamics were the subtle ones (ie. going from soft to softer or loud to louder - not the v. soft to the v. loud). This is especially appearant with vocals and piano.

The increased detail were of two types: seperation of individual notes (very appearant with Dave Mathews on aucustic guitar) and clarity of multiple instruments and sound samples (esp. appearant with the Matrix Soundrack, Title #2).

Finally, the overall increased musicallity of my system. Probably owing to the above benefits, and to bi-wiring they system. However, since adding the Silvers, the music is more palpable and less digital.

The sonic improvements after adding the Silver Analysis were dramatic. It was as if I had added/improved one of my components. Brings out the potential of the B&W's. Helped palliate that unsatatiable need to improve my system. And to the relief of my wife, not completely replace it (which I have compulsively done in the past).

The rest of my system:
Proceed CDD
Proceed DAP
Adcom 5802
B&W Nautilus 804
Rel Strata III

Tara Labs RSC Master Generation XLC interconnects
12' Analysis: Oval 9's and Silvers (Purchased them from Oliver at Delve Audio - which I would highly recommend, esp if you've bought other equipement from him.)

P.S. These sonic improvements were noted within the first 2 hours of hooking them up to my system. Can't wait to see how they will evolve.

Strength:

Oustanding build quality, flexible, incredible sound

Weakness:

none

Normally I will wait several months before posting a review, but the initial excitement of this cable has me wanting "to help spread the news" about this incredible cable.

I must be getting better at this game, (finally, after 25 years of doing it!) because my last few audio purchases have been great - right out of the box. (The others - PS Audio P300, Antique Sound Lab MG-HeadDT headphone amp - (a killer! For under $260.!!)) Either that or I'm just getting lucky lately!

Anyway, back to the ball game, I actually bought a 8' set of Silver Oval bi-wired with Oval 9. Again, it's a pretty good sign if they sound great "right out of the box".

I was initially apprehensive, do to my normal experience of a long, drawn out process of break-in, and the attendent torture that comes with it. Boy was I pleasently surprised when I hooked these up and out poured the clearest, cleanest, most coherent sound I've yet heard from my ReQuests.

It's like a layer of heretofore "grunge" has been removed from the sound, leaving only the music, pure and unadulterated, to remain. These cables truly do sonically "disappear".

The bass (with the Oval 9) also took on a renewed sense of depth, speed and articulation that I hadn't previously experienced.

Obviously, we're not talking minor differences here. I am simply (gee you could'nt tell?) BLOWN AWAY by these cables.

They have surpassed my greatest expectations.

I can only shudder at the thought of how they'll sound once fully broken in. (Insert goosebumps here).
