Strength:
The clarity stands out most,I found the bass to be better in my system. And the highs are pretty good.
Weakness:
The highs arent as crisp as i would like but i took care of that with SILVER OVAL speaker cable.. I mainly listen to JAZZ and these cables do a very good job if they didnt i would have replaced them by now. They have kept me very happy for years.. Strength:
Looks nice.
Weakness:
Will not give you better sound than cables costing $15-$20. When it comes to audio interconnects, don't be fooled by "looks" and "cosmetics".I tried AudioQuest's lower end "CopperHead" cable and the "Coral".There is absolutely no sonic difference that you can actually "hear" with either cable.I then bought a pair of $12 interconnects that have connectors that are better than the Coral's,(I won't mention the brand here),and they sounded just as good or better than either AudioQuest cable. AudioQuest also claims that they use what is called "Perfect Surface Copper".I contacted an Engineer in the Copper Industry, and he said that he has never heard of the term "Perfect Copper". I have to admit,I caught the so called "Audiophile" bug for a while, but I now do my reseach on products first before I buy them. |

Strength:
transparency, rich full sound, good detail, and price
Weakness:
none for me I really like these cables. I was first auditioning cables for my new cd player and I felt that the kimbers were my choice for the price. But I wanted something more transparent and smooth instead of bright and edgy (on my system) so I tried out the audioquests and was very happy with the results. The cable work well with my system and they do not give me listeners fatigue like the kimbers. Give these a try if you are looking for a good cable for a reasonable price. Strength:
Natural sounding, musical
Weakness:
No glaring weaknesses I have had many interconnects in the $100 - $200 range and this is, hands-down, my favorite so far. The other cables I've used extensively are: Nordost Blue Heaven, van den Hul DM102 MK3, Wireworld Atlantis and Vampire something-or-other. The van den Huls are also very good cables in my mind and have a nice harmonic richness, but have a certain "darkness" in the treble and occasionally sound a little hollow. The Nordosts are very quick, clear and tramsparent but sound analytical and light-weight after prolonged listening and seem to have an over-emphasized transient attack as well. The Wireworld Atlantis appears to be a good all around cable, but seams to lack richness and warmth in my system (though I only tried the Atlantis for a few weeks of casual listening). |

Strength:
Multi solid core conductor, nice ferrules(sp?), open sound, was considering the Diamondback, but went for the "Coral" instead, worth the price difference.
Weakness:
none really that I could here "Keep it simple" is something I love to tell everyone, and I have with the Audioquest Coral cables in the 2.0 meter length. I ran the Corals from the variable outputs on my Denon DCD-1650AR Compact Disc player direct to my Rotel power amplifier, a RMB-1095. I always wanted to go direct without the pre-amp in the way, and this combination does it for me just great. Still breaking in the cables, I am amazed in the extension in the bass region that I didn't know the Denon had. Not even running a subwoofer. Don't need one here, because the Corals bring all the music out and my B & W 603 S2 speakers have found new bass to do, and now much tighter than my other lesser cables. Warmth is there in my jazz recordings but the Coral doesn't appear to add too much of its' own character to the music. Detail is well portrayed here too with the String Bass so vivid I could see the strings being plucked, wow. The Piano sounds much more like a piano, and high hats don't have that harsh splish, splash sound that my Monsters' did...sorry guys.My other cables also sounded constricted and congested and ever so hard and harsh. The Corals even new are sweeter sounding, a harmonic fullness that I haven't heard from any other cable in my place. I can't wait until everything settles here,I am positive it will only get better. Bravo Audioquest on a great cable for my direct needs. Basically anyone who has not tried a high grade cable such as the "Coral" is missing out I think. If you can try before you buy that is always a plus since some systems may not like this cable, but at least in mine, it is a musical success. I have heard others say if you don't at least spend $50.00 on cables you are missing too much information your system has to offer. I don't know about that, but at roughly 3 times the price, the Corals are definately at this time paying great dividends in my music. Try these cables out if the $100.00 or so price range is what you are budgeting for in your cable hunt. Of course there are better, but the Viper(though if funds allow, I may go with those at a later date) for instance was too $$$$ for my budget, and the stratospheric cost that cables can run may scare many off, but with some patience and research, and listening you can do very well spending a lot less than you think, or at the very least spending a little more to get a lot more in the area of sound quality performance. Please shop carefully, and enjoy the music as you go. Special thanks to Duke at Sound Factor Pasedena for helping me on the Audioquest Corals purchase decision. V.C.
