Very neutral cables, and at $125/meter, a bargain. They come in meter lengths of .5, .75, 1 (about 40 inches), 1.5, 2. Although they are reasonably flexible, the RCA plug is rather long, so if you are working in a tight space or think the cables are going to be stretched at a certain length, think about buying the next longest length.

I just upgraded from Monster Cable cables to AudioQuest Ruby between my Yamaha RX-V995 receiver and Sony CA80ES CD player. There is a noticeable difference in the fullness and detail that I can hear in my system. My local dealer pushed the Topaz as an upgrade from Monster Cable. I have to say that for my system (mid-level) I am very happy with the Ruby cables.

j weghorn is absolutely right. The Ruby cables between my new Harman Kardon HD710 and my old Onkyo receiver eliminate any harshness and improve clarity, detail, soundstage, etc. Three weeks later and I'm still stunned by the improvement. Perfect choice for mid-hi-fi. Only problem; the first pair I bought were defective (terrible mid-range distortion). Exchanged for another pair, and then no problem.

In upgrading my interconnects from my Denon 2500 DVD player ot my Reciever I tried several mid priced brands, Cardas Crosslink $75, Straight wire symphony II, Audio Quest Ruby $125, and Kimber Hero $120. I have to sya the Audio quest were at the bottom of the heap. I ranked them Hero, Symphony II, Crosslink and then the Rubies. I can't justify spending $125 on them when the Straight Wires were fr better and only $75. Does the Kimber sound $50 better than the Straightwire? I don't know, they just sound better and I had $120 so there you have it.

I own many different types of cables but the one that gives the most sound quality for the money is the Ruby. I have compared it to Monster Cable, TARA, Tributaries and others but overall the Ruby comes out on top. Some of these cables have slightly better bass than the Ruby(but it doesn't matter for me since I use a SUB) but none of them come even close as far as the mids and highs go. If you are looking for a well made great sounding cable this is the one to get.

Very dry mid range. These don't even come close to touching the DH Labs ($85 -$95) The Lapis are great interconnects for those who can afford them. But why spend more for cables that don't sound right?

This is a fairly uncolored sounding cable especially for the price. Dynamics are quite good with a silghtly laid back/warm sound. The dry midrange that Frank is complaining about is coming from his Bryston amplifier which is a typical characteristic of Bryston Amplifiers in general. A solid sounding cable with a warmer touch than Topaz.

I've followed the recommendations I found on this site and bought this cable. Since I've also upgraded my receiver to a much better one, I cannot really say how much this cable contributed on its own but I'm hearing things from my CD's that I had no idea that where on them! I even did not recognize my Emma Shapplin CD at first, since it sounded different fron usual!
I highly recommend using high-quality cables between a CD and a receiver, and it seems this cables are doing a great job.

If you have a bright system, main stream Harmon Kardon, Sony, Denon etc, Ruby is an excellent choice. These baby's are laid back and uncolored. Lots of detail. Deep sound stage and seperation! If you own the above equipment, stay away from the more exspensive Audio Truth "Opal",($195.00)! Too much treble, need a darker speaker and amplification.
A step down from the Ruby, Topaz is great also but has a week midrange. Ruby is awsome! Spend the extra $25.00 or so for the RUBY!

4 stars ****

Compared with Topaz, and MIT Terminator2 interconnect. Ruby is slightly better than MIT and much better than Topaz. Kept Ruby at last.
