Strength:

Very good tonal balance and good fullrange reproduction. Tonal balance is the most excellent strenght in this cable! Good dynamics and smooth reproduction. Fair detail. Fair ambience.

Weakness:

Not as detailed and open as a true High-End cable.
Very hard PVC materials used as insulator makes it difficult to strip the cable!

NOTE THIS REVIEW IS FOR CABLE TALK 3.1 BIWIRE!

This test was performed in a private Hi-Fi club consisting of audiophiles and R+D engineers/masters, and the purpose was to test audioble difference in different speaker cables. Bulk speaker cable (2 x 0,75mm2) was used a "standard" reference.
The equipment used was a modified Sony 202ES CD-player (Equipped with a new analog amplifier), Copland 301 mk. 2 preamplifier, HIRAGA Class A power amplifier. Different speakers used.

NOTE: All cables are used in single-wire configuration!

Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire offers good value for the money; It performs much better than one should expect from the price and the design (Use of PVC as insulators).

Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire has an excellent tonal balance - the reproduction is smooth from the bass to the treble! Tonal balance can almost be compared to High-End cables!
It is nice to hear that e.g. cymballs are reproduced with the same brushing sound as in I.R.L. (In real life).

The dynamics are also good and comparable to most of the cables in this test. Only outperformed by the Audioquest cables (It should be remembered that the Audioquest cables are much more expensive than Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire).

Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire offers good ambience and fair details; However Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire is not in the same legue as the more expensive cables!

Kimber 4VS and Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire fights over 3. position in this test (1. Audioquest Clear - 2. Audioquest Midnight+);
Kimber 4VS has better detail, more open and smooth midrange than Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire.
On the other hand Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire has slightly more level in the low range and slightly better tonal balance in the high range; As Kimber 4VS is more "open" it reviels it self to be slightly compressed in the highrange. As Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire does not suffer from this minor flaw the tonal balance of the above mentioned cymballs sound more natural on the Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire. However, without the same amount of details!

Whether to choose Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire or Kimber 4VS as 3. position in this test is a matter of taste!

One of the persons in the test panel during our test asked the question: Is the performance of the 1. positioned Audioquest Clear 3 really worth the 14x more money you have to pay compared to the Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire???
Well, I think "Yes!" but I agree, the Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire most certainly comes out as Best Value for Money in our test!

So Value Rating is a clear 5 stars!

Overall Rating is a 3 stars, and if the midrange was as "open" and smooth as for Kimber 4VS, the Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire was moving fast toward a 4 stars rating!(I gave 3 stars for Overall Rating also to Kimber 4VS and 4 stars for Value Rating; Would have been 4 stars for Overall Performance and if highrange was not little compressed on Kimber 4VS!)

A little postscribt: The Cable Talk 3.1 "suffers" a little from the positive review in "What Hi-Fi" making people expecting to get a High-End cable! -And that's of cause NOT the case - You get Value for your money! Do not compare a Cable Talk 3.1 Biwire to e.g. an Audioquest Clear - it's two completely different ball games... Cable Talk 3.1 should be compared to it's equal kind!

Strength:

tight bass

This cable is fine for the money! I am currently slowly upgrading my system from a Tecnics 390 CD player, Cambridge audio A1 amp, JBW mini monitors linked with Cambridge Atlantic interconnects.
I bought the cable with some B&W DM601 and am bi-wiring them with 3 meter runs. The bass is clean and tight. The treble is not overly bright but still well defined. My amp (soon to be upgraded) is only 30W yet the bass is substantial compared with the cheap Gale cable with the 601s.

This is low/mid budget cable! As such it performs superbly.
If you need less bass and brighter treble go for qudos. If you do get this cable BI-WIRE it!!!

Strength:

Basically everything!

Weakness:

Gosh, I don't think I've heard any

I upgraded to the 3.1 from my first cables -- Talk Theatre II and I must admit that the results were astounding!
This was my first cable upgrade, seeing as I had to get my (very modest)components together first! I'm using the 3.1 to feed a pair of Acoustic Energy Aegis Ones from a Harman Kardon 1400 amp with EAD T1000 and DSP 1000 series II as source.
Compared to my previous cable the Talk 3.1 is nothing short of astounding. Bass is deeper, soundstage has widened a LOT, details come through much, much easier and the delivery seems far faster.
Granted, the Theatre II is probably a worthless pile of horsewaste, but as a first cable upgrade I'm very, very chuffed with the 3.1 and I can recommend it easily to anyone making a financially sensible upgrade from cheap/old speaker cable. Easy five stars from me.

This is a follow-up review to the one I posted about a week ago. I was surprised to read some of the reviews on this page saying that the bass and drive disappears when listening to rock or other faster music at high volumes, so I decided to see for myself whether this is the case. I spent this past weekend in the company of The Who, more specifically at Leeds University and let me put it to you this way: Cable Talk 3.1 may be a cheapie, and it may also not be the best budget cable around - but it sure as hell knows how to rock (and everything else, to boot).
Entwistle's opening bassline on Heaven and Hell practically ripped my head off, while Loony Moony's drums were NOT lost, vague, mushy or anything but fast, precise, gagrgantuan in impact and damn loud.
So, to my ears at least, the Talk 3.1 is an astounding cable - it has bags of fast, tight bass - good control and slam and best of all: It costs next to nothing. An even higher five than last time!
