Having been impressed with Nordost Blue Heaven, I thought I've found the perfect cable. Then rumors about THE BEST speaker cable started spreading. Ok, it's a new company. How much better can they be compared to the old masters? Having been a devoted wire zealot, it wasn't long before the temptation became too much to resist. I surrendered once more.
VISUAL: This 9 gauge cable is thicker than some... err... most light garden hoses. Which makes sense since I'm using the mono-wire version. They seem to pay attention to details. The black mesh jacket looks typical of high end wires above $300. Overall, it looks like nothing special and would not detract listeners from enjoying the music.

PHYSICAL: Very flexible. About the same flexibility as much thinner wires. I was expecting something stiffer by looking at the diameter (1 inch). On the other hand, the connecting parts are very stiff. They seem very durable and would not fall apart to heavy twistings. The "locking" spades fit both small and large binding posts.

PROCESS: The cables were burned for 18 hours prior to critical listening. I also conditioned myself with listening to 14 gauge Monster Standards for about a week. My speakers are set up in a less than ideal position but a great cable should create improvement in any environment. CDs used: Enya Dreams box set, Faye Wong Best Collection, Richard Clayderman box set, TWO-MIX BPM132, and Chara Strange Fruits.

IMPRESSION: I won't use any audiophile jargons here since I'm trying to give a honest impression, not a simulated poetry. Listening through these cables revealed several things. First, there is treble roll off. Obviously, most cables have less high end energy than Nordost, but in this case it's very apparent. Second, the soundstage is not as wide as the Blue Heaven or a LAT Int SS-1000D. Third, it reproduces voices, piano, guitars, and brass instruments much more realistically than any other cables I've tried. They sound fuller with the right amount of crispness to it. No harshness, just pure note. Fourth, bass is very good and satisfying. Not boomy but very much a controlled one. Absolutely better than Transparent Audio.

SOUL: Obviously the Pro-9's limitations are typical to copper conductors. However, its strong characteristics are more than enough to rank it the best copper speaker cables of all time. Yes, you can get more treble, bass, detail, or balance with other cables. But if you're concerned about reproducing real life sound, this is the cable to get. Excessive amount of anything leads to artificial sound. Listening to Faye through these makes me feel as if I'm in an overseas cafe. It has the right tonality and crispness except for the boomy bass which is understandable given the room configuration. Simply amazing... It is as if I have upgraded my amp.
Metal and techno fans would not be disappointed either. Unlike other cables, Chara's shrieks are well separated from the trashing guitar and intentional distortion bass. I can actually make out what she's saying. I just feel sorry for the Dynaudios at the receiving end... Enya reveals the soundstage weakness tremendously but gets the tonality and bass right. Still, in this case I prefer the Nordosts better. Maybe I haven't burned it in long enough.
This cable is also ruthless for revealing bad recordings. The factory defect on my Enya CD sounds even more apparent with these cables. Previously I was able to detect it only through a headphone (hooked to the Bryston B-60 in the same system). It is detailed yet without the excessive noise and thinness common in silver wires.

RATING: Sound limitations, -1. Material and workmanship, +1. Retail Price, -1. 4 stars. The reason why I took off a point for price is because $600 sounds more appropriate for the overall system improvement. This is not accounting the degree of differences in speaker cables. Besides, the Pro-11 costs half less and might sound only slightly worse. In any case, it is a MUST audition and since the company offers 30 day money back guarantee, there's nothing to lose. I'm definitely keeping mine.

I recently purchased the Truth-Link Interconnects from Harmonic Tech. I can truthfully say that my search for the ultimate interconnects is over. I never thought that interconnects could make such an audible improvement in my system, but they did, . All aspects of the sound spectrum improved, and to a noticable degree. I am totally sold on these interconnects, and I hope to get the power cords and speaker cables in the future. Another big plus is the cost of these products. Compared to most of the other brands, these are very reasonable. But hey, listen to them for yourself, and your search for cable nirvana may be over also.

Strength:

Smooth,yet detailed,

I just picked up a 1M pair of Truth Link interconnects today
and I am very pleased with my purchase. My system is a Copland Integrated Amp with a Sony X77ESD cd player (an earlier XA7ES @ $4000. but better) Totem Tabu's with a double run of Kimber 8TC with WBC ends.
I have tried many different interconnects and was not happy with the sound of my stereo. I am not that well versed in audio technology but I know what sounds good and these Truth Link cables vastly improved my system. I have had XLO Reference cables on my audio system and they were terrible. XLO are a good cable but they did not match up with my system. I will probably purchase the HT speaker bi-wire to replace my double run of Kimber 8TC. If these Truth Link take a while to break in and I have only burned them in for about 4-5 hours today then am I ever going enjoy these cables.

Strength:

Soundstage, detail, control

Weakness:

Rather cumbersome

Last year a friend borrowed a brand new set of Pro-9s from the importer to try. After a few hours listening we both thought they were ok but not great. The soundstage was quite restricted and the cable seemed to be compressing the dynamic range of the signal. So the cables went back.

A few weeks later, after the importer had run them in one of his own systems for a while he rang back and claimed that the cables had really improved and now sounded quite impressive. Not having anything better to do that day I decided to give them a blast. Well, was I impressed or what? They blew my old cables away. The character of the cables really had changed after a month of running in. I had been searching for new cables for several years but could not find anything (in my price range) that sufficiently impressed me. The Harmonic Techs changed that instantly. I never new how much I was missing before. The soundstage opened right up and the stereo image improved no end. Bass seemed to be far more substantial whilst still being controlled. The top end also improved, becoming clearer. I know my old cables (Roksan) weren't the best in the world but I didn't think they were that bad (to my ears they sounded a lot better than the likes of Kimber cable). In comparison to the Harmonic Tech, though, they sounded like bell wire.

I ordered a set and gave away my old cables.
When the new cables turned up I threw them in and was bitterly dissapointed. The soundstage was definitely smaller than with my old cables and both the bass and treble were both compressed and over-damped. Before I could do any serious listening I would have to run the cables in. So I turned on the tuner and left it running when ever possible. After a few weeks of use (not continuous) the cables definitely got better. Previously, I had never held much truck with running in cables. After all they're just bits of wire. But I've changed my mind about that. My recommendation for anyone considering trying a set of these cables is to insist on trying pre-used cables.

My only criticism of the Pro-9 cables is that they are not the most user-friendly cable. Both the conductors and the dielectric are very substantial and make the cable cumbersome to route. There'll be no hiding these cables under the carpet ;-(

After 6 months use, I am very happy with these cables. I'm sure that there are better cables out there, but probably not for anything less than twice the price.
