I got many other power cables like XLO(I've forgotten the model number. Its green in color), Transparent Super power cable. I found this cable is real good. This cable can effectively remove the excessive mid bass of some my Pioneer PD-T07HS Limited CD player. It also gives very gentle mid range and sufficient high frequency extension. It is quite close to my friend's Cardas Golden Cross power cable, but it's high range extension is better. This is suitable for those harsh Japanese CD players like Pioneer

Let me preface this by saying that I never, in my whole life, thought that a POWER CORD could make a difference in the sound of a stereo system. After all, it just conducts electricity from the wall outlet to the component. Well, I was TOTALLY wrong!

This past weekend, I purchased three AC-11 power cords for my CD player, power amp and receiver/pre-amp. It's all Rotel equipment, speakers are B&W Nautilus 804s. I had read several debates on AudioReview forums concerning the efficacy of power cords and decided that I had to hear for myself, although I was quite skeptical. I hooked up the power cords and put on the following CDs: (a) Diana Krall - "When I Look In Your Eyes" - a reference CD for me; and (b) "Get The Knack" - one of my "desert island" discs. I tested with these 2 CDs because the recording qualities are SO different. The Diana Krall CD is rich and lush, while The Knack CD is thin, bright, the bass is weak, and brings on listener fatigue (typical of many late '70's recordings that are transferred to CD).

I was shocked at what I heard. With the Diana Krall CD, the highs and midranges bloomed while detail increased significantly. If I closed my eyes, it sounded as if she were in the room with me. I never thought that CD could sound any better. WRONG! The most amazing difference occurred with the Knack's CD. The music shot out at me and became very forward. There was an energy present that I had heard only on the LP. The bass was punchy and taught. Detail increased astronomically. I was totally floored. I had really thought that older recorded CDs (i.e., those that hadn't been digitally remastered) would never sound good. WRONG, again!

The AC-11s have totally transformed my system from good sound to GREAT sound. I never thought that a power cord could rise to the level of an essential component, but it has. Do yourself a favor - run right out and change those power cords to AC-11s. They're affordable (I paid $162 for a 2 meter run) and are probably the most worthwhile tweak to your system.
