I auditioned a pair of Ultraconductors and purchased a pair. I completely agree with the reviewer below. My system: Plinius 8150 Amp, Dynaudio Contour 1.8 speakers, Rotel 940BX and 971 CDs.
Was using some Signet MusicLine OFC 14-gauge(?) for the speakers (~$1.00/ft). I listened to a borrowed set of the Transparent Wave 200 cables and thought the sound was terrible: the highs were gone. But I wanted to still try the JPSes.
I heard alot about JPS products, but couldn't affort their superconductor series (that's $1000+ for speaker cables). The Ultraconductors are very light. You might wonder "Why am I paying $200 for such insubstantial cables?" Here's the reason: They Are Amazing! I couldn't believe my ears either. Suddenly, little details came through at the high end. Everything sounded a bit smoother. I did extensive A/B testing (the Plinius has bi-wired outputs, making hooking up two sets of cables a snap). I didn't want to believe what I heard, but the Ultraconductors make a significant difference.

However, I also auditioned the Ultraconductor interconnects against my very cheap AudioQuest Turquoise interconnects. I didn't hear a difference. I had previously auditioned the Kimber PBJs and didn't like them.

So, as Galen Carol of Galen Carol audio says, you need to audition cables in your own system to see if they help or hurt.

Strength:

An easy sound that doesn't fatigue

Weakness:

Lacks fine detail of cables 3x the price

An honest value in the over priced cable market. This interconnect will sound good in most systems. Five star rating is adjusted for price. Loss of detail and deep bass when compared to NBS mineserpent 2 interconnects. Less fatigue with long-term listening on moderate system (Rega planet CD, Proac Tablette 2000 and Arcam alpha 8 int. amp.)

Similar Products Used:

cardas, NBS, Sonic horizon
