I purchaced the HTS-2000 a few days ago based on the glowing review Robert Harley gave it in the current issue of TAS. I figured that for $200 the dissapointment wouldn't be too painful if it didn't meet my expectations. After I got the unit home,I played a CD without the HTS-2000 wired in,and then played the same CD after plugging my Rega Planet and Bryston B-60 into it. Everything Harley claimed it did in his review system was mirrored in my own system. Like Harley, there was no need for me to go back and listen for subtle differences with and without the HTS-2000. The bass was more real, the treble more crystalline, and the overall sound more transparent. For me,I don't think I could have spent $200 on anything else that would have given me this much of an improvement in SQ. |

Strength:
solid construction, improves what you hear
Weakness:
size Simply put, it's a great investment. I never thought a surge protector/line conditioner could actually improve the sound, but it does. I noticed a significant difference in my CD player - it almost sounds like a signal boost - the soundstage is more defined - everything has more of a place, more clarity. Strength:
A lot of outlets and a coax outlet. Labels for different components
Weakness:
Cost It does improve over the generic surge suppresor I was using. When I got a new DVD player (Denon) I was hoping for a large improvment with the new conditioner. I would say, however, that the improvement is modest at best. I do like the guarantee that comes with it as far as electrical surges goes, and it does have more outlets than most devices. I am just not sure if it worth the extra money. Similar Products Used: Ould surge suppresor |

Strength:
It really works!
Weakness:
None I was experiencing some less than great video even with DVD but especially with cable. The salesman pumped my on the HTS 2000 and I thought it must be baloney. But I tried it and guess what -- it really works. I noticed at least a 15% improvement in picture sharpness and color (Sony XBR 53 inch and Sony 7700 DVD with B&K AV-202). A residual hum in my audio is also gone. Unexpectedly good results. Similar Products Used: Home depot/radio shack power strips |

Strength:
Extended soundstage.
Weakness:
None. I thought my speakers sounded great - Paradigm Mini Monitors - but after plugging this baby in, man what a difference. The bass was tighter and extended, the midrange more liquid, and the highs smoother. The product does what it said it would do. Although I did not connect my cable line - picture very good - I did connect the TV power cord and noticed richer colors. I give this products two thumbs up - way up. Worth every penny - $133 at globalmart.com. |

Lots of outlets I liked the number of outlets, but it didn't seem to make all that big a difference. Similar Products Used: Audioprism Power 3 |

Strength:
Improved audio clarity and depth. Great power conditioning
Weakness:
$$$$$$ My condo is 30 years old and undoubtedly the ac outlets and electrical wiring are old and filthy. I went through 2 brand new Denon AVR-3300s that kept overheating and shutting down. I figured I couldn't have 2 defective units and I knew the speaker connections were all ok. So I bought the HTS2000 on recommendation from my dealer and it worked perfectly. The power regulation allows my Denon to rum normally now and yes it did improve the overall sound of the system, most notably the low and mid bass extension. The clarity is much improved also. As for video improvement, I'm still waiting for my DTV to get in. Similar Products Used: generic power strips |

Strength:
labeled outlets, 2 high current outlets, ground light and protection light indicators, insurance
Weakness:
still expensive I paid $134 total/delivered for the HTS2000 which retails for $200+tax. I went with it because it comes with insurance for all your components should your house get hit by lightning or whatever, plus it has unfiltered outlets for my amps. I'm running an Outlaw 750 and I didn't want to restrict the power. I like the ground indicator so I know everything is hooked up properly. As for the noise filtering? I can only say my system is very clean sounding, even when appliances are running. When my air conditioning turns on the lights in my room will dim for an instant, but my HDTV and audio components don't falter one bit. When you consider what some of this equiptment costs, for me it was a nice insurance policy. Recommended Similar Products Used: regular surge protectors and monster HTS800 |
