Strength:

Light is perfrect, no signal loss except at connectors

Weakness:

none that I can see

Well, I got this cable for my DVD player and haven't been disapointed by the quality of it. The dynamics, range, bass and spacoiusness all opened up about 100% compared to the El Cheapo coax that I had. I am not sure if this cable would make a difference if you had a El Cheapo reciever and CD/DVD player, but for my Pioneer Elite System with the VSX-26TX Receiver and the Pioneer Elite DV-05 DVD player, it changed all the way. While is might be a tad onm the expensive side for Joe the Burger-Flipping millionaire, I believe that it is well worth it if you have QUALITY components that really allow to hear the difference. That has been my Golden rule now from switching from the crappy cables, Quality Components REQUIRE quality cables! Don't get stuck with crappy cables for a High End system cause your going to degrade that quality of the sound you paid those mega bucks for, spend the 50 freaking bucks, the cables are as perfect as any you will find in your lifetime till we have stereos in our heads on a chip.....

Strength:

It works.

Weakness:

Overpriced.

The ignorant people who breathlessly insist that they can HEAR the difference between two different optical cables are making fools of themselves. If the sound difference between two digital cables is subtle then there's no difference. IT'S DIGITAL, for crying out loud!!! Either you're dropping bits right and left (which won't be that subtle) or you're not. As long as the cable is above a minimum level of quality the bits all get there and you're a moron for using expensive cable. Ditto for the assinine debate between coaxial digital and optical.

I will say, however, that the construction quality of the Monster cable is very good, so it does warrant a decent rating.

(For the record I can by these cables as part of a package deal, so don't accuse me a being a hypocrite; I would never pay for them.)

Strength:

That FLASHY name

Weakness:

Not really a weakness but for the same price the Datalink 100 sounds better for CD playback.

This is a decent cable for the money of all you plan to do is playback movies on a DVD player. Although for the same price if you plan on playing back CDs or I would highly recommend the Datalink 100 (same price) or any decent digital coaxial cable. The datalink tends to have a more open "uncompressed" sound specifically in the midrange and treble that I noticed on certain recordings. Overall I would say this is a great cable for the price, but if you have the ability to run digital coax by all means do.

Strength:

Well built, with proper care will last a life time, great sound!

Weakness:

A little on the pricey side

I bought a pair of these for my mini disc player and wow what a difference in sound over rca cables. Perhaps its not that the rca cables were of poor quality, but with a tos link you make less trips through the dac's when dubing music. I must admit I have never made a side by side comparison of tos links of different prices and manufacturers, but even though these are expensive they are worth it.

I bought one of these, but as far as I can tell, there is no reason to buy it other than the name. Don't be fooled by the hype! I've designed fiber optics in the past and the only really hard thing about this class of cable is the connector-and that shouldn't even be hard because the fiber is larger "multi-mode" type. There is less trouble with alignment. The other things people worry about are attenuation and dispersion (widening of pulses), but only if the cable is kilometers long. keeping this in mind the only criteria for buying a cable is fit and durability. Save your money and buy a cheaper cable.

Strength:

Quality and Durability

Weakness:

Price

Yes it's expensive, but the cable is great quality and will last forever. If you are willing to spend a little more on the Monster cable, you won't go wrong. It's my feeling that if you spend a grand on your HT system, you should get good quality cables. That's why I went with Monster to connect my Marantz SR-7000 to my DVD player. Sure there are other great cables out there, but I have no complaints with mine. If you've got a nice system, it's worth spending a little extra on cables.
