This cable is a no brainer. Go out and buy it. Forget the over bragged D-60 Iluminations. And if cannot drop 150.00 go out and buy the D-75 DHLabs @ 59.00/0.5 and knock your socks off. If you want a slightly more refined sound than the D-75 and can go the extra 90.00 by all means do it. Forget the TARA its junk, forget the D-60 is edgy and the bass has NO GUTS and the MIT Digital Reference is so expensive and slow and fat. The Music Metre Fidelus is #1 for sure and the DH Labs is a close 2nd.

Musicality and broad compatibility

I don’t take hi-fi alchemy for granted and rather than trust the magazine reviews I prefer the empirical approach i. e. I let my wife’s ears help me decide about components! I’d tried various digital cables by the big industry leaders – Kimber, Nordost and all – in a bid to extract more detail and resolution from the 2 box Rega Io and Jupiter and found them all wanting in one way or another, especially given the high prices being asked. Through these pages I came across the name of Music Metre. I’d never bought blind before – least of all on the Internet - but I was intrigued and decided to seek out the small independent. Maybe this was through an innate tendency of mine to support the underdog regardless, who knows…... Firstly, it turned out to be a pleasure to deal direct with the designer ( Jim Patric ) who proved to be knowledgeable and sufficiently passionate about his work to make the transaction process a pleasure, despite the fact that I was buying from Italy. Sonically, the result is exactly what I had hoped for – more music, less technology. I could harp on about the Fidelus’s perceived qualities but words don’t really do it justice. Suffice to say that I would have to think very hard in order to come up with a system where its extremely broad compatibility would not constitute a significant upgrade. A sure-fire winner in its category which would appear to boot the industry big boys straight back to the drawing board – and all the better for being competitively-priced and well-designed. A small blow for the underdog – and an immediately hearable and relatively ( at least in hi-fi terms ) inexpensive upgrade for those of us in search of something special – and not just artificial hi-fi. N.B. Burning the Fidelus in properly is advisable before full appreciation

I've owned an Analysis Plus Video/Digital coax interconnect for a good year+ now and was very pleased with its performance. That held true until I heard about Jim Patrick's Music Metre cables, especially the Fidelus Digital coax cable. So I was able to get one through an auction at Audiogon.com and performed a "side-by-side" comparison with the Analysis Plus digital interconnect. Granted, the Analysis Plus cable is one "great" cable, the Fidelus gave the best overall tonal balance, transparency, and did the best job on the low frequencies. Although both cables are very detailed, the Analysis Plus was a bit brighter than the Fidelus on the upper highs. The Fidelus is the fine line when it comes to detail, very natural. The Fidelus did a better a job with the upper midrange, lower midrange both cables were pretty even, but in the lows, the Fidelus produced the tighter bass. Again, the Analysis Plus Video/Digital cable is an excellent digital interconnect, but the Fidelus takes it even further.

Takes the edge off

I just bought my second Fidelus. I am thoroughly pleased. Without breaking the bank I have arrived at digital sound through my DVD system entirely lacking "edge" or "harshness". The cables are easy to work with, as is Jim Patrick from Music Metre. I will upgrade my DVD player soon, but I do not anticipate ever replacing these cables. Highly recommended!

A wee stiffy.

Knowing first hand that Audio Interconnects make a difference, but you would think that Digital is hard cold Digital 0's and 1's high and low signals there is no "in betweens" there so signal transfering is pretty straight forward right? well I found out this also to be WRONG and my life just got a little bit more complicated.

I needed a digital interconnect to hookup my new Monarchy Dip SuperDrive into my Musical Fidelity ACT D/A converter. My CD transport unfortunately only has a Toslink digital output so I have KimberKable Optilink there but never before a coax digital interconnect.

I read someone here say "Try Music Metre Fidelus, is much much better than Illuminati" and I wanted the Best Interconnect for the Money that wouldn't compromise transparency. So I gave Fidelus a try.

Craftmanship on the Fidelus is Tops. The cable is not perfectly round as most but rather somewhat flattened. It has a turquoise sleeve surrounded by a thin black mesh that gives it a dark greenish ligth iridescence like (rainbow of colors) and the resamblence of snake skin. It's a matter of taste but I love the looks of it. I also loved the fact that these looks won't call attention to itself so it inconspicously *** Passes your significant other's new component awareness factor ***

To my surprise ( and dissappointment at first) I noticed it was terminated on Silver Plated RCA connectors as oppossed to Gold plated ones. But later I learned that for Digital signals this seems to work better. The cable Is Not Directional, although you are encouraged to try it both ways to see if one performs better than the other.

The sound of it did not dissappoint me at all. It was completely neutral, and not overdetailed with a harsh high end or traces of edginess like the Illuminati, but yet it retained a crisp and clear high end reminescent to what you hear on the high quality silver audio interconnects, but I am not implying that it has the overall sound of silver at all, I am just trying to describe its high end characteristics.

The mids are rich and liquid, they flow with warmth and openness. The Bass is deep low and tight but of it all its greatest strenght resides on providing an excellent staging and microdynamics, so you get a better appreciation for sound decays, background and ambience information. If you are hesitant about which digital Interconnect to get, you can't go wrong with the Fidelus. This is what a Digital Interconect ought to be. Music Metre gives you a 30 day money back guarrantee and they were Absolutely Kind to me.

I highly recommend it for systems of all levels.

The folks at Music Metre spent a great deal of time listening for musical quality sound.

The 1M cable is a bit stiff.

I have an old (antique) system that is fed by a Technics Tape deck. The 1970's HiFi Stereo was in desperate need of new life. Then one evening as I performed one of my most important husbandly duties ("taking out the trash"); I discovered a CAL-DX1. It had been discarded in the trash-room. The DX-1 worked just fine, it was very clean & in excellent condition. I even found the remote; (The prior owner hadn't remove the plastic peel-off cover from it's face). The DX1 find was the specific thing I needed for a musical revival of a 70's HiFi.

Before my discovery of the DX1. I had been storring a Creek OBH-14 preamp/DAC. My intentions of hooking it with a used quality transport & a Creek 4330se integrated Amp had to wait.

The next day I hooked the DX1 to the Creek DAC via various Monster digital cables. (The Monster Cables used are much less expensive than the Fidelus). But, the ole' system wasn't completely revived until installing the Fidelus.

I even isolated each individual component & cable within the system before making my final determination. The Fidelus Digital revived my 1970's HiFi stereo. The system was obviously musically alive. Certainly, the Creek DAC is a great improvement. But, the OBH-14 would have been wasted if it were not for the Fidelus.

I used this cable in conjunction with 2 D60's between my drive and dac. I also used 2 monarchy Super DIPS (thus the necessity for 3 digital cables). I used the Fidelus on the last leg of the chain to the dac. This is where I found it to work it's magic. I have found the D60, despite its praise by magazine reviewers to be a tad harsh. I think that what a lot of people refer to as very high resolution is nothing more than cold edgy harshness. I am glad to say that with the Fidelus on the last leg of the chain the system was perfectly balanced. This has become my reference digital interconnect.
