nothing This cabel is AWESOME. This is my first review here and I'm long time reader of this site but 'cause of this great cabel I decided now to write something about it ,' cause IT really deserves to be write about !!I've tryed bouth Kimber 4TC and 8TC cable after good reviews here. I've tryed also Monster,Straight Wire, Nordost gold flatline (bi-wire)and few moore, but this cable kill's them all !! This is first time that I'm relly satisfied with sound I've got from my Marantz and JBL with these speakercabels. Maybe like many of you said if conected to "bright" equipement it will sound "bright" specially on tops (discants) but consider to what also many of you think about Marantz (soundskind of "warm" ) I 've couldn't get better combination !! It really deserves 5 points. If I change something in my equipement in future It will for shure NOT be this cabel, this is last thing I will change...and Solar Wind have good bottom end, don't know why many of you complane on it , I've got really fine and deep bass !! my equipement JBL XTi series (5)speakers Marantz SACD /DVD dv-8300 Marantz receiver sr -8200 Nordost Solar Wind speaker cabel Cardass Quadlink-5c innterconect MIT digital innterconct Similar Products Used: enough off them ! |

Strength:
Everything from top to bottom.
Weakness:
None. I just upgraded my cable from the Nordost Flatline Gold MK-II Bi-Wire and it was a night and day difference !! The Nordost Solar wind speaker cables and interconnects transformed my system into Blessed Music that is so overwhelming that I tear up at times. My system is: Sony SS-M7 speakers, Sony XA7ES cd player "variable out" directly to a B & K Reference ST-2220 and a ton concrete, ceremic, aluminum and rubber for superior isolation (Thank You Home Depot) !! I also use a powerline conditioner, Audio-Quest powerline filters, a dedicated Orange, Isolated Ground, Hospital Grade outlet as well. Does all this matter ? Absolutely !! Read my review on the Sony SS-M7's !! Although it is not updated with my new Nordost Solar Wind cables, there are no negatives now.. God Bless Music and all who apreciate it... I would recommend these cables to anyone who’s invested between, say, $2,500 to $5,000 (or, perhaps, more) in the rest of their system. I was getting frustrated with my own system because, in spite of its cost, I was not really enjoying it for some reason. I was about ready to give up this hobby altogether, sell my gear, and go raise chickens or something instead, when I noticed that there was a hi-fi show in town. So I went, of course. And, of course, I came back with an empty wallet and speaker cables that looked like they belonged inside a computer. As I was hooking them up to my system, I thought to myself: I’ve finally gone completely mad -- I just spent more on these cables than I did on my CD player! I envisioned my last proverbial marble dropping to the floor in front of me and rolling away before my eyes. But behold! The sound was instantly different. Images came into tight focus, timbres started to sound correct transients started to sound palpable, and so forth. But the overall sound was compressed and hard on the ears. The nice gentleman from Nordost had warned me about this, saying that this would go away as the cables got broken-in. So I persevered, letting CDs play on repeat while I was elsewhere. And each time I came back, the sound was richer as well as more detailed and fluid. I now realized what was previously missing from my system: it was the music! These cables are GOOD. Give them a try before upgrading your source. You may be amazed at how much more detail you can squeeze out of it. I am thinking about trying the interconnects next. Of course, synergy of components is very important, especially when you can’t afford a mega-buck system. So always try before you buy if possible. That said, these cables are definitely worth the price. |

This new speaker cable from Nordost is excellent. I had the Nordost Super Flatline in my system for about a year and recently traded up for the Solar Wind. After listening to my favorite CD's for several days, the improvements are quite apparent. The deep powerful bass my system had with the Super Flat's was replaced by a much cleaner, tighter and deeper bass response. I found this a little lean at first, but as I listened to more CD's and the cables started breaking in, I realized the quality of the low and mid bass had drastically improved and the boominess, which I hadn't even thought was there, was now gone. The midrange of my speakers with the Super Flat's had been fine, with a slight upper midrange glare that I thought came from my mid-fi JVC CD player. Now that glare is gone, even on the "brighter" CD's I have. The midrange is clean and detailed, but not harsh of forward at all. The treble is open and extended, not rolled off or exagerrated. Overall the soudstage is wide and deep, with excellent imaging, a quality the Super Flat also had, and fast, precise dynamics which show off the cables' speed. Transparent is often used describe Nordost cables and I can think of no better way to describe their sonic character. I used to be a student of the 'Stereo Review' school that cables couldn't make a sonic difference, unless defective. Well, after having Nordost cables in my system for over a year, I can say without a doubt that good cables can make all the difference in the sound off your system. I never thought my speakers could sound as good as they do now. If you're serious about the sound of your system, give these cables a try, you won't be disappointed and you may be amazed. The Solar Wind speaker cable is brand new and the interconnect, an excellent match, has been around for a year now. HAPPY LISTENING!!!! 4 stars in the insane, but impressive high end cable world. |

Strength:
Impeccable sound
Weakness:
Price This is a great sounding cable. Pricey; I had to be convinced to pay that for it, but I must admit complete satisfaction. It's just not there, perfectly transparent. |

Strength:
Clean, clear, accurate.
Weakness:
Price? I must avoid stepping on them since I lay them on their edge to avoid carpet interactions. It has been a while since I compared/decided on these, so I don't remember all of the details. The Analysis Plus did nothing special in my system; I think that they were rolled off on the highs. I was planning on getting my DH Labs calbes cut down for my monoblocks after I got them, but I thought that I would try the Solar Winds first. I figured that a flat cable might work well w/ a flat speaker, but I bought them based on the sound. All I can say now that I have forgotten is that these cables sounded better than the other cables that I tried. I don't think that better could be had for the same money. I just burnt in a new pair of Solar Wind speaker cables and they are incredible. I was using Monster Cables, which I thought were OK. The Solar Winds are much more open, airy and detailed. I was always a bit skeptical about the difference speaker cables could make, until I heard the difference myself on my system. |
