Strength:
Airy and transparent, a little warm, good midrange, loud and clear.
Weakness:
A little harsh and coloured at frequency extremes ( High frequency ). The Prism 22 is a resonable price mid-range interconnects, its solid core technology sounds attractives and the cables itself look solid too. The pac kage even came with all the technical datas concerning this product, the best is that it even have a name cards with the QC''s stamps endorsed on it. The sign of serious quality control. I''ve read through magazines e.g What''s Hi-Fi and Hi_fi Choice about various interconnects and cables, compairing them ( various bland names). They came into two main categories: A) Goertz Alpha Core series, Tara Labs, Audio Quests. B) Van Den Hul, QED qunex, Nordorst Blue heaven/ Red Dawn. I''ve auditioned and used those cables above-mentioned in my system and one factor I noticed is that, there are literally two main group of manufactures, the British and the Americans companies. Most of the British cables are highly recomended by What''s Hi-Fi/ Hi-Fi Choice, but in comparison it is those cables from the American companies tha stands out against their British Compatriots. For examples it is the Goertz and Tara Labs that wins here, they are bigger in diameters and are solid cores. The others are just multi strands cables and looks thin. This shows that the American companies are using more materials in their products and also the prices are more reasonable in contrast to the British Ones. On conclusion, this is only my personal views and I hope no one will feel offended. Last but not least, the overall performances of a systems does not only depends on the cables, the components will play a more important roll. Strength:
Looks cool, makes me feel happy.
Weakness:
price? Well, my friend gave me these interconnects. Oooohhh! I though, these cables will definitely make my system sound better! I put these "things" between my CD and X-cans headphone amplifier. And then I listen... and listen... and listen... I was getting tired... and I didn't hear nothing special. My own handmade cable sounds exactly same. I thought that these super-hyper cables and differencies between these "wire" are total nonsense. But then suddenly I understand the idea of these interconnect cables. The idea is feeling. When I see my cool looking prism cables I feel good. I feel that there's something special on those cables. I can't hear the difference, but I can feel it when I see my cables. Feeling is very important factor. If i put normal cheap rca-cable between my cd and amplifier, it will look stupid, but if I put good looking "high-end" cable between my components it will look cool, and make me feel good. That's the point THE FEELING. Now all my cables are cool looking cable. And still I can't hear the difference, but I can feel and see it. Similar Products Used: Several handmade cables etc... |

Strength:
Price, good balanced sound, soundstage
Weakness:
Not the best at frequency extremes The Tara Labs Prism 22 is an entry level cable that will give owners of modest systems a taste of what good interconnects can do for their sound. The Prism 22 is much better than the Monster Cable Interlink 400 and CD cables, especially when it comes to imaging and soundstage. I consider the Prism 22 along with Audioquest's Jade the 2 best economy interconnects I've heard. While the Prism 22 isn't quite as capable at the frequency extremes as some of the more expensive Taras or Audioquests, it still does a good job. Highly recommended to anyone looking to upgrade from el-cheapo generic and Radio Shack type interconnects. A good value for the money. I've tried a variety of cables (Monster Cable, StraightWire, Luminous Audio, and finally WireWorld) in my complex system, and gave these a shot. These have a problem: they lose the bottom-end (bass) extention, and detail that other cables deliver, and they choke the dynamic range some. I replaced these with WireWorld Atlantis II's, and the musical improvements to my system were HUGE! I'm dumping my Tara Labs cables..... (and DON'T recommend them!) You can do MUCH better than these. |

Changed from a Monster M350 to Tara Lab PRISM 33.I notify the BASS become much more solid and deep. While I found that the mid range and HF become weaker and thin. The Sound like a little bit artifical............ |

The Tara Labs Prism 22,33 and 55 are all pretty good bargains i've found. I've bought them for family andfriends who would otherwise have kept on using the skinny black wire that came with their stereos. The Prism |
