None FOlks, this is an unshielded cable.Though it may be open and fairly well detailed...decent extension and all that good stuff(that a cable costing this much should have) what it may also bring to your system is a whole bunch of RFI...thats interference, and in a big way. These things suck up passing iterference, seemingly multiply it several times, then shoot it out to ya. They may work well for a few folks, but for most, they will be wonering where all that NOISE came from all of a sudden.I have been trading cables for years, and I have never ever heard anything so bad. $20 AR 10 series beat these....by miles. I have other XLOs in my system(tube btw),and they are wonderful, and I am a fan of their products,however...These are crap. Similar Products Used: Way way way to many to list, all under $1500. |

Was the flagship of the XLO line until Limited was introduced. This is a reference grade cable whereas the Limited is cost no object. I think this cable is a bargain at current price levels (40% discounts common). Very neutral, fast and open sounding. Have compared to AQ Quartz, Nordost SPM and Tara (whatevers, who can keep up with what they are called). Roger Skoff is a cable genius with solid electrical and materials engineering in his products. As with many cables the effect is synergistic. If auditioning from the Cable Co. or other, get enough to wire between cd player or dac and preamp and then to amp. While your at it check out Signature 5.1 or Reference 5.0 speaker cables. The total treatment is nothing short of awesome. |
