Weakness:
~ Fairly stiff. Give it some extra length to make it around the bends without kinking. Seriously good speaker cable, especially considering the price. Well constructed. Has detail, imaging & soundstaging, excellent bass/low-mid response, and very good dynamic ability. To get an improvement over the Ultra, you'd have to spend thousands for the level of XLO's Signature (or higher), Kimber Select, Nordost's top models, etc. But anything in-between wouldn't be worth it - considering what's out there in the under-$1500./pr. range. XLO's best value, and one of the greatest value's in speaker cable. Value Rating: 5 Stars, "Bargain, Giant-Killer". Overall Rating: 4 Stars, "Very Good Product". Bought these used for a home theater/budget system. Dennon av recvr., NAD515 cd changer, Infinity 2 way bookshelf speakers on stands. Was using old 10awg Monster cable. Big difference. Much more bass authority maybe too much. Has shifted the sound from bright to mid and bass heavy. Have not played with tone controls yet (yuch!) These cables definetly deliver more energy and cause the speakers to react to the amp better, ie higher damping factor, but have seen the recvrs. clipping light come on briefly a couple of time a only 1/4 turn of the gain knob where before could go to 12o'clock. At the db levels associated with 1/4 gain with these cables, you could not stand to be in the same room at 1/2 gain if the amp in the recvr. could stand it. I think these cables are very revealing and will send you down the upgrade path; need better amplification and speakerization. Good phantom center channel effect that was not there with the monsters. Needs auditioning with source and speakers before buying. |

Strength:
Bass dynamics, neutrality in midrange, extended top end
Weakness:
Not as dynamic as XLO's Ultra-12 (which I just ordered) An attractive and colorful looking speaker cable. Compared to other cables I've heard with the Monitor Audio Silver 9's Silver 12 Center, the Ultra-6 offers a dynamic, full, 3 dimensional sound that is very appealing. The cable allows the performers to just "sit in" in the room with you. I'm using it with the Bryston 9B-ST and the combination of amp and cable offers a quickness and naturalness of attack of each note that sounds "real". The Teflon coating, also found in my Audioquest Diamond interconnects, allows a sense of space and air to permeate the listening room, those subtle nuances that says that something special is taking place. A wonderful product for the price! By the way, the Ultra-6 is a 10awg cable. The Ultra-12, which is a double run of Ultra-6 for shotgunning or bi-wiring, is where I'm headed next, and is a 7awg cable. Owners of speakers that love high current to accurately drive them will love the Ultra series of cables because they offer vise-lock control over the speaker cones' movement. Strength:
clarity, dynamic, very neutral
Weakness:
none I have this speaker cable especially for the tweeter of my biwired speakers. Wow! Very clear, dynamic, precise and neutral cable. This is a cable that is affordable and allows you to listen to your equipment. A must audition. I compare it with Kimber and Tara and found that Kimber and Ttra Labs add something to the music (so it depends on music lovers if you want those addition; for me No!)
