DESCRIPTION

We are proud to introduce our new flagship Silver Serpent Component Video Cable. Engineered for video excellence. While small in physical size, these component video cables are GIANT in performance. Our cables are suitable for critical runs even as long as 200 feet or more. Perfect for HDTV and DVD (interlaced and progressive) and any situation where signal quality should not be compromised. This cable enables your equipment to reproduce the best color saturation, black level and detail possible. We doubt there is a higher performing component cable available ANYWHERE at ANY price. I found no weaknesses

This cable is so good it defies description. I tried it with some old "not so good" DVDs and they were vastly improved. But What was almost unbelievable was what some of the newer DVDs looked like. I saw stuff I did'nt even know was there. All the colors were sharper and vivid. The whole video experience was like looking at live action through glass. All this was done using direct link from a DV-05 to a 48" Plasma screen.Does this humble person recommend? You "betcha". Very highly!

I heard about Brad Marcus and Bettercables through an onlive review. I had looked at lots of other Component cables and realized a) good cables were expensive b) picture quality was awesome 3) DVD's require this type of cable to perform at their best. Well the Component cable I got from Bettercables is everything I asked for and more. What surprised me most was the value I received in more than one area. Not only did I get in my opinion one of the premier cables on the market, but I also received great customer service, and a lifetime guarantee! I also purchased a subwoofer cable and ultra digital coaxial cable and I can't say a bad thing about any of them. I think any DVD owner, Home Theater enthusiast, or Video lover should buy these cables...if you don't like them, return them for a full refund!!

would have prefered three separate cables...

the performance of this cable is great...
my only gripe is that the other cables i considered (Tributaries and AudioQuest) were three separate cables, which would lead me to believe that they had better insulation... these cables would have been about 2.5 times the price, hopefully i will be able to compare the two within the next couple of months...

Strength:

Clarity and preciseness of picture.

Weakness:

Connectors look kind of cheap

At first, I couldn't believe it, who would pay 100 bucks for a component video cable? After testing out multiple brands of component video cables I found bettercables.com to be the best of the three. If you're going to spend some serious money on a nice TV and DVD player, then don't settle for anything less then this cable to connect them together.

Explaining to the wife why I have purchased so many cables...eerrr, you mean my weakness right ?

As a AV enthusiast north of the US Border, I first stumbled on BetterCables last year. After not such great experiences with other home made to order cables from other US/Canada sources I was a tad weary...My last order, I had to personnally resolder all the connections because the small company was more interested in quantity then quality.

I decided to Purchase a RGB component cable from BetterCables...a 15 Foot 75-ohm 3-Channel Premium Component Video with RCA to RCA tips...
So 1 week or so after my internet online order for what would obviously be a customized cable (I doubt 15 ft are standard).. I received my cable..I was very pleased when I opened the box... a solidly built extra thick and braded cable , the quality was better then I expected for the price I paid.

The main thing...Has anyone Purchased this type of cable in Canada ?? with this quality....you would not beleive the price quotes I got...

Thanks Brad for excellent cables at sensible prices !!

Precision Component Video Cables from bettercables.com

The Precision Component Video Cables are different than most(that I've seen) in that the cables come very nicely assembled in a sturdy but flexible nylon sheath, that keeps them all together and makes the back of your rack look more organized. They are terminated with high quality Canare RCA connectors, and Canare color coded rubber grips on the connectors make for error free connections. This is a very nice looking set of cables anyone would be proud to own. After hooking them up to my 60 inch Pioneer Elite Pro-200 monitor, I ran the video calibration portion of the Video Essentials DVD. I had been living with Monster Video 3 Component video cables for about 2 months, which is a high quality set of cables. Doing a comparison between the 2 sets, I noticed that The Precision Component Video Cables were more nuetral, in that the colors had more of a "real life" look to them....the overall picture had a more natural look to it and even added a bit more clarity. THe comparison was done using high quality transfer DVD's which included "The Fifth Element"; "Lost In Space"; "Terminator 2"(THX); "The Abyss"(THX); and "Halloween"(THX). The Precision Component Video Cables edged out the Monster Video 3 Component video cables by a noticeable margin. The Precision Component Video Cables cost $69.95 for a 2 meter run while the Monster Video 3 costs $89.95 for the same run, given those figures, I'd have to say that the Precision Component Video Cables are a steal. Bettercables.com now offers an "Ultra Series" line of Component Video cables(which BTW I've already ordered) that offer a wider bandwith and bigger wire gauge.....these are, as Brad Marcus of bettercables.com puts it..."the big brother to the Precision Component Video Cables". I can't wait for my order to arrive. High End Quality Cables at a very reasonable cost have arrived via bettercables.com, compare them to any brand you desire, if you don't find them up to snuff, bettercables.com has a 6 month money back guaranteed....unheard of in the audio/video cable industry!

Along with BC speaker and interconnects i went to BC component cable which i tried in place of the monster. Improvements were not dramatic, but brightness and detail did improve. I am happy with this improvement and the BC is flexible. As for price and guarantee i don't think you will do any better. An excellent product!

This review will be pithy. I am very pleased with the cables I have recently bought from BetterCables. I purchased not only the component video cable (which I am using to connect my Sony S550D DVD player to my Sony WEGA TV), but also the S-Video cable (from my Adcom GTP750 pre/pro to the TV), and a digital coax cable (to connect my Rega Planet CD to the Adcom pre/pro). All of the cables are very well made, offer excellent performance, and cost much less than comparable cables from other companies. So what are you waiting for....try a pair!!!

Weakness:

Umm...weakness?

I've seen the monster components on my tv (Toshiba 27" with Onkyo 575 DVD) but I decided to give the bettercables a try. Man, do these things put out a great picture! Pop in Austin Powers and all the colors come across a lot more vibrant and richer. Comparing them to composite is a joke and even Svideo doesn't compare. I didn't think cables made a difference until getting these. I was a little hesitant about getting the cables here but with all the positive feedback here on Brad and his company, I went for them and don't regret it all.

Build quality, frequency range?...see review

Weakness:

None that I can find

OK, I have to admit this may not be a proper review because my system is kind of rigged. I bought the cable in anticipation of getting a TV with component inputs, but that hasn't happened yet. So, here's how I'm using them (feel free to laugh)

My TV is older, so it only has a coax in (F-type?) So I had to get a cheap radio shack modulator. Anyway, I'm using one channel from the DVD to the receiver, the second channel from the receiver the modulator, and the third from the VCR to the receiver. Got all that? Needless to say it's a mess back there right now. Anyway, it's night and day. Before, with the old cables, when the screen was really bright with whites and yellows, it would get blurry and actually "snow out" sometimes. I think that has something to do with the frequencies the cables could handle. With my setup :), no more of that! The picture is clear and precise, especially from the DVD. Matrix and What Dreams May Come look so much better, especially during very light and very dark scenes. I can't wait to actually use the cable like it's meant to be used.

I guess I should have bought 3 composite cables, but after I'm done with my HT, I won't need them (S-video for VCR, component from DVD).
