The top of the line digital cable from LAT Int. LAT Int is one of the few companies that don't charge outrageous prices for high end wires. Their cheapest silver interconnect starts at a mere $34. This is one no-nonsense company. The DI-20 is a well built directional cable with gold machined locking connectors. Like other LAT Int products, it doesn't come with any packaging or a pretty manual. As for cosmetics, they did a great job with the transparent jacket and white outer shield. I did some comparisons with a cheap 75 ohm video cable and Audiodyne Datalink. All cables are of 1.5 meter length and fully burned in. The Audiodyne sounded harsh and brighter than the rest. The vocals seemed softer than the other cables. The 75 ohm cable seemed to be the best in forward dynamic sounds. It's the most musical cable of the bunch. As for the DI-20, LAT Int claimed that it "makes all traces of digital grunge from CD players disappear." How true... the sound becomes more tubelike. The treble sounded sweeter and the overall sound became smoother. Vocals that sounded harsh through the video cable sounds much smoother if not forward. In the end I prefer the DI-20 much more than the video cable. However, it would make a warm system sounds too warm. Overall, I think the DI-20 is a great product for $75. It would be the perfect cable for SS but I don't think it would be suitable for most tube electronics. I haven't tried LAT Int's analog interconnects, but I would definitely give them a try when I need new interconnects.

Very well made, attractive, flexable, gold-plated RCA's, directional cable that passes a digital signal from one place to another. I paid $25 for a meter over the internet and was not ripped off. I tried listening while slouching and while sitting straight up with my eyes wide open! It sure sounds different to me. I tried listening to a seashell and I think I heard the ocean with this cable in my system. Wow! Some people pay way too much for that muffler! But, if they think cables have a "sound", why don't they just get tone knobs or an equalizer? This cable is worth every penny at $25/meter.

I find most digital cables lacking, and I have tried many. Without going into elaborate detail, these are transparent, with ambience, detail, lack of grain, etc. Initially after break in they seen laid back, but this is the lack of the usual digital grain. The music is all there. I am using balanced AES-EBU version which is a suprior interface at $20 more.
