Strength:
Analog-like natural and accurate sound. Really wide dynamic range. Straight bass. Beatiful finish with well designed remote controller (better design than recent models) Four digital inputs.
Weakness:
Heavy like a power amp. No "STOP" button on the main panel. Digital volume is O.K. until -6dB, but at -10dB the sound becomes somewhat harsh. Since 1992 I use it as my main CDP and D/A converter for DAT. I often record classic concerts with one pair of microphone (spaced-omni) to a TASCAM portable DAT (48kHz/16bit), which is played back by SP/DIF co-axial input of DP70V. It sounds very natural and realistic, not digital at all, as if you are in the concert hall, almost like a line monitor. As a CDP, I am really satisfied with the sound, although this belong to a VERY old generation of digital equipment. For more than 13 years, ir works without any trouble. |
