In the first place, I want to excuse myself for not beiing so good at writing English. Ok, let's start by saying that I bought the AH TJOEB CD 38 (99 version), about two weeks ago. So I guess it's burned in right now. This machine is a modified player with AC Noise Killer and Super Crystal, so I am really sure it's state of the arts among other Tjoebs...
Well the only thing I want to share with you about this cd player that IT IS MAKING MUSIC. Whether I listen to The Doors, John Lee Hooker, Julian Sas, Ravell, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Skunk Anansie or what ever real (not audiophile) music, IT ROCKS. On my Dynaudio Audience 60 I do experience ease, dynamics, and a crystal clear open sound. Note: the music that I play, mostly recorded not so well and sounding very harsh, is presented musically enjoyable.
On my Marantz CD 63 KI, it was not that touching and involving, so that's why I bought the TJOEB.
Maybe not very informational, but this I HAD to tell you about this MUSICAL MIRACLE. In my opinion, the best buy I ever did in audio equipment !

I am not able to compare this gem with more expensive players; that's been posted already. I will simply try to convey some of the joy I've discovered in my music since hooking this beauty up 3 weeks ago. I have a modest system; Paradigm Studio 60's, Paradigm PW-2200 sub, and NAD 314 integrated amp. My previous CD player was an Onkyo. I always thought it was decent, but knew that if I invested in a better player it would make quite a difference. After reading about the Tjoeb on this site, I decided I would buy. Without a doubt, the very best $550.US I've spent on a piece of audio gear. I've been grinning ear to ear for the last 3 weeks listening to this player. Very warm, lush, clear, DYNAMIC, beautiful music has been emerging from my speakers like I've never heard before in my room. I had no idea of what I have been missing up until now. I've rediscovered my music in ways that remind me of when I was but a lad, discovering how great music made me feel! No single piece of my stereo system has ever made such a profound difference as the Tjoeb 99'. (I ordered the super crystal and AC noise killer options.) I've spent lot's of time going back and listening to my favorite recordings that have been in my collection for years, and everything now breathes and has life that never existed before! I sometimes can't believe how real and lush the music sounds. It's brought me back into touch with the music again; similar to hearing it for the first time. I believe I've hit the blue note. I've found audio nirvana.

Personally I don't own the high-end components as mentioned in some of the reviews. The average age of my complete installation is about 15 years ..., however the cd-player I was using, an old Sony, was the worst part in the full story. Through a collegue, who is a hifi-fanatic, I was advised to buy for sure a Marantz player, but a few days later he told me he had an even better advise, and as you can guess: he meant the Tjoeb. So we went to Beek with a few cd's. Already immediately at the first comparison with a song from the Joni Mitchell cd Blue, the decision to buy was made. The warmth of her voice, the stereo-image, the instruments which got each their own location. Compared with a standard Marantz cd-player, the Tjoeb was by far superior. The other cd's I took with me (16-horepower BB King) only reconfirmed this opinion. And what do I experience at home? Besides the clarity in the sound which the Tjoeb gave me, like a heavy curtain was removed, I also got back the low frequency reproduction I had with vinyl and which I missed untill now with cd's. Finally, because despite all the scratches, I still took quite regularly such a big black plate out of my cabinet to know how bass had to sound. So this is now also available on CD!
So I listen every day with more pleasure to the music through my Tjoeb, because before anything else, listening to music is my hobby, and not the search to the best soundstage. Old ska, music from the sixties, punk, blues, totem with Junkie XL, everything comes out as easy as possible. My device: the Tjoeb is also for the medium-end installation an enormous improvement!!
