Good cd-player with reliable cd transport. Looks quite modern and up to date, even if it's been out for quite a while. One does not check which model it is exactly, as there seem to be at least 2 or 3 different versions without any obvious different labeling (you won't find "mark 2" letters on the player, for ex.) I have the version with the indication of the DAC (192 or something) on the surface. Tested it for about 2 hours only, with following results: Fullbodied, very analogue sounding, with good, "broad" bass, natural mids and somewhat limited highs, that don't come sparkling. So this is no hi-end, but very good hi-fi ! And this is no disadvantage, as such players get rare, as time goes by ......... Even with higher class amps, this is still a joy to listen to and often a much better choice than some player costing 4, 5 times as much - but only nerving and bothering you with their too explicit and sometimes artificial sound ! With the AMC, it's a bit like a live recording of a nearby rock concert, that might not have been broadcasted absolutely lifelike, but maybe to a 90% of it = that's very good and not fatigueing (the real concert did not tire you as well, agree ?!) Strongly recommended !! |
