The Arcam FMJ CD 33 is a very transparent player with deep and wide soundstage. Brings listener to the recorded event, that is how realistic it sounds. All frequencies are very well balanced including a tight, clear and deep bass. Midrange is absolutely stunning. Highs are crisp and clear. A CD player that surpasses the 33 would cost many thousands of dollars. It can compete competently with the big boys. Bought it at a discounted price and I am very happy.

Strength:
Deep, detailed, 3 dimensional , open sound. Build quality.
Weakness:
Nothing comes to mind Arcam FMJ CD 33 Deep, wide, open and detailed, best describes the attributes of this player. Bass is well extended but not bloated or overdone. The depth of soundstage is fantastic. Seems to capture all the music without holding back. I'd say it's not an overly smooth sounding player because it has a bold and a slight foward presentation, at least so in my system. If the music is smooth the Arcam is Smooth, rough and edgy then the Arcam is rough and edgy. Transparent and neutural are the terms usually used I suppose. Will show off a good system and change the soundscape of lesser ones for the better. For the price I paid, the build quality ease of opperation and the fantastic quality of sound this puts out I have to give the unit a 5 all round.
