The Ayon CD 5s is larger in life than I imagined and very heavy (at 19 Kg). It is beautifully finished in black brushed aluminium to the precision level of a top-end camera. I am using it with the Ayon Crossfire II amplifier fed through Harmonic Technology Magic link III interconnects into a pair of Vivid Audio B1 speakers. I could not be happier with the result. It has a naturalness, warmth and openness with a huge and palpable sound stage. It has detail without any edginess, and a fluid coherence that I have only heard with vinyl. It is simply the best sound I have experienced from any CD player. This may be the last CD player that I will buy.

This unit is fabulous in every way, from beauty of case, through build quality, circuit design and versatility, to the ability to drop several power cords and sets of interconnects because it is a transport, DAC and preamp all in one. The sound is at highest level reminding of vinyl, natural open, dynamic, detailed without edge.
