Strength:
Construction and sound quality.
Weakness:
No balanced output. The sound from the ZZ Eight is very smooth and detailed. HDCD encoded CDs seem equal to SACD versions. An XRCD-2 of Bill Evans/Tony Bennett compared to the Mobile Fidelity LP only lacked a slight air. Lows are full and as smooth as tubed CD players that I've used. (I recently played a Dorian organ CD that reproduced 16 Hz notes and they were accurately presented through my system--which uses a pair of Bag End subs). The sound stage is deep and wide. I highly recommend this CD player, especially if you can find it on the used/demo market. Similar Products Used: BAT, Burmester, Sony SACD, Sonic Frontiers |
