I've had the DCM 360 for about 6 months now.In the price range of ~$260.00 it's hard to beat.

Deserves a 4.5

Strength:

Good reproduction, natural sound stage, even n a small room

Weakness:

Horrible mechanical design, no digital out, very long CD switching times

To be fair, the 360 prduces a pretty decent soundstage even in cramped settings, but that is not enough to offset its many weaknesses.

1. Mechanical design is very poor, in particular the servo systems.
2. As many reviews have noted, the unit tends to breakdown a lot. Typical problem, it takes longer and longer for it to pick up a CD an eventually quits picking them up altogether. That's a laser servo adjustment that is out of whack. I got it fixed twice, and each time it played no more than a week before giving up.

If you are lucky to have a mecahnically sound unit, it is not a bad player, but I prefer the Sherwood both for tonal quality as well as construction.

A definete do NOT BUY.

Strength:

Sound quality, cd jam handling :)

Weakness:

Disc tray seems a bit cheap

I really like this product for the price. I was especially pleased when, in a state of boneheadedness, I moved the cd player when packed with cds. I turned it on its side and all the cds settled into the back of the unit. I was pleased when I turned the unit on and it didn't force the tray door open and potenitally break the mechanism. It instead lit up and wouldn't play or rotate the cds. After I figured out my problem, I manually opened the door and put the cds in place. It works just fine again.
