Strength:
Good sound. Looks great. Nice remote.
Weakness:
It skips and I bought it two days ago Unfortunalely, I read the reviews after I purchased this unit to replace my old, singe-CD Sony CDP670. I haven't yet experienced the HK not recognizing CDs. But mine does something worse than that - it skips like crazy on one paerticular CD and I bought the changer two days ago! My old Sony never skipped on any of my CDs. I think I'll take the HK back to Circuit City and replace it with an Onkyo. Similar Products Used: Sony CDP 670 |

My experience with this player was not the best. I got the player last christmas to replace my 10 year old Kenwood 6 disc player (rca's were going out). I got it at Fry's and by April, I was on my 3rd one the problems were 1; didnt work out of the box 2;within 1 month would only occosionaly recognize discs (5 disc loaded, only recognizes disc 3, but move it another slot and it wouldnt recongnize it) and 3;remote control from the cd remote and the pt2500 remote worked very sparaticly. I returned it completely and got a Kenwood cd-206 which cost a $100 less and in my opinion sounds better. I also liked the more contoured look of the fl8300 better. Maybe i was just unlucky, but in anycase get a warranty from the dealer if you can. Also the platter movement is loud, even compared to my Kenwood. |

I have had the FL 8350 for about one month now and I have to say it is a real improvement over the FL8330. The buttons for play/Skip ect. are now on the top for easy acces. The sound of the player is just great. So far so good. It is really a well built player. |

Strength:
Percieved build quality; and reputation. Sound quality
Weakness:
????? This is a note for users of 8350s. Apparently H/K has identified the problem of not recognizing CDs and prescribed a fix to its authorized outlets. The problem is mentioned in a FAQ about the 8350 on the Harmon website. I just purchased an 8370 and, after reading reviews here, called H/Ks tech support to find out if this fix has been incorporated into the 8370. It has, for those considering an 8370. For those with 8350s I would take it to your closest dealer and mention the FAQ on H/Ks website. I am certian there is a procedure that is laid out to fix this problem on existing units. Hope this helps somebody out. |

Purchased this product a few months back mainly on name recognition, and going by the old addage "you get what you pay for" (ie- after seeing boatloads of $39 Pioneer and Sony and Technics players..) I laid down the $300. |

Strength:
style, sound
Weakness:
reliability, reliability, reliability, direct song access, remote First and foremost it stopped recognizing CDs after 3 months and maybe 50 uses. This is a common problem and I am thoroughly disenchanted with HK that they continue to sell an obviously defective design. Good thing they dont make tires -- they'd give Firestone a run for their money. Similar Products Used: Sony, JVC, Denon |
