Strength:
Build and sonic quality
Weakness:
Aggressive drawer, no HDCD The best entry level Krell CD player yet, not that metallic Krell digital sound of their earlier players. Tight controlled bass, good pace and rhythm (not just the British players anymore) and great construction. The transport however, the same one used on the $250 Marantz CD5000, is too quick and is a little flimsy. The soundstage is not as deep and lush as the Linn Ikemi but the bass is far more articulate. I guess it is a trade off but one couldn't go wrong with either of these players. Similar Products Used: Linn Ikemi, Meridian 508.24, ML No39 |

Weakness:
Price: But High end Cost Bucks! ($3500) Retail This is the semi-full review since I only heard a CES demo for my initial evaluation. It is built with a nice brushed metal finish. Not a heavyweight by any means. Good red LED readout & Nice Credit card remote. Part of Krell's new line. Excellent bass response. Played superb before break-in! Have it mated with Monster 950i's. Extremely quick access time. Good three year parts & labor warranty. MADE IN USA!! Similar Products Used: Meridian 506 Krell KAV-250cd NAD s500 |

Strength:
I Demoed this CD Player Only(not yet Available) &
Weakness:
Price: $3500 No Upsampling- No SACD I Only demoed this but it looks & sounds Like A Killer Player. The price is high but when compared to a Wadia 860, Audio Aero Capitole,Or Krell's Higher End Cast Models it Sounds Like a Steal! The Capitole is More Liquid But the price is 3 grand more. I looking forward to it's release in Early March 2001. By the way the model is a 2001! Similar Products Used: NAD S500, Meridian 506.20,Krell 250cd |
