Strength:
AMAZING SOUND. Very real. Produces a big deep soundstage
Weakness:
Remote is a little slow to respond, but took me about hour to get use too. WOW!!!! I don''t know what else to say. An amazing piece of equipment. So much more detail, and DEPTH. Really nice midrange too. I didn''t know that compact discs had the chance of even sounding this good. I can''t find any weakness, execpt the remote is a little slugglish. The price I paid includes 4 years of extra warranty on top of the 2 years that it came with, plus a digital coaxile cable (can''t spell). The price is in Canadian dollars Similar Products Used: 1995 techniques changer |

Strength:
Don''''t know.
Weakness:
Didn''''t work right out of box. Don''''t know how this thing sounds. It didn''''t work right out of the box. Reads th CD but when you push play, nothing happens. Waiting for my replacement from John at audiosound.com. Seems like a quality piece of equipment. I own a few other pieces of marantz equipment and are all great. Emailed tech support at Marantz''''s web site(www.Marantz.com) and got a quick response. I informed him what had happened and that other owners on audioreview.com had the same problem. his response was that there is not a problem no matter who said what and good luck on the replacement. Everyone that sells Marantz equipment knows this player is prone to this problem. John at audiosound.com told me he was going to make sure the replacement works before he sends it to me because of this. |

Strength:
The build quality seems to be good, and it's a handsome machine.
Weakness:
Mediocre sound quality; slow loading. Last summer, after over 15 years of stalwart service, my old second-generation Magnavox player finally died. To replace it, I wanted a changer—something that I could load early in the evening and have run until bedtime. I tried a JVC machine that simply castrated the classical and jazz CDs that I routinely listen to. I visited a local store and was persuaded that this was the best choice, for a changer with higher-end sound quality. Unfortunately, the store has a one-week return policy, and it coincided with a flu bug and heavy work duties. So I didn't really audition the machine as I should have. Well, the upshot is that this up-to-date wonder isn't nearly in the same ballpark as my old, sadly-missed Magnavox. Treble (and overtones) truncated; bass anemic; midrange pallid; soundstage collapsed to the center. The only real benefit, I suppose, is that it sounds better than the JVC. And for background music, it does OK. If you're looking to listen critically (as I used to do as a record and stereo-equipment reviewer), this machine won't do. It's mediocre, that is "moderate to low in quality." I'm thinking of buying a single-play machine for that kind of listening. Similar Products Used: A JVC model whose number I've forgotten. |

Strength:
None that I could tell.
Weakness:
Horrible display, skimpy manual, tiny remote. Also never completely thrilled that only can x-change 3 CDs instead of 4. This Marantz CC4000 OSE did not work right out of the box. Powered up, but did not read CDs at all. Read somewhere else on this site that Marantz has lately started manufacturing in China and models from China were of poor quality. This particular CD changer was made in China as indicated on the player. Am sending this one back and buying a Yamaha CDC-685 instead. |

Strength:
Great sound. Fairly quiet disc changing. Whisper quiet playback. Coax digital out. Hasn't skipped on me once (and I've got some OLD cd's). Solid feel.
Weakness:
Display doesn't pefectly match my SR-7200 receiver (the display brightness is noticebly less). Remote licks, but I'm using the receiver's remote which was already pre-programmed for this player. Can't shuffle one-disc (but I never do this anyway.) Display is a little small, but not as bad as I thought based on other reviews. Ergo's a little different than other players (but not necessarily bad, just have to get used to it...) Did I mention great sound... quite an improvement over my old crappy Technics changer (my wife even commented that it sounded much better!!) Similar Products Used: Old Technics CD changer. Didn't listen to other brands b/c I wanted the cd player to match my receiver (I know, how vain!) |

Strength:
Sound quality, fast changing mechanism
Weakness:
Sluggish remote control, small, useless display Yes, the remote is small and the response is sluggish. The display is so small and awful, it is essentially worthless. Strength:
fast Disc loading, solid construction, well-priced for quality of product
Weakness:
display is smallish and awkward, remote included w/ system is mediocre at best Being new to the conmponent stereo world, I had this unit recommended to me by a friend in the industry. I was after the best sound quality I could achieve with a player under $100 CAN. this unit fits that to a tee. It is basically a CC-4000 changer with a thicker reinforcement plate, high quality capacitors and a faster carousel mechanism. It comes very close to any comparable single disc player in terms of sound quality. Another bonus is the coax digital output. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Silent, fast changer, flexible, great detail
Weakness:
terrible remote control, no off power on it, small display I waited several months before I bought this CD player. The reproduction is great with a lot of detail. I hesitate long time in whether buying the OS or the less expensive model 4000. Besides the weaknesses describe above I am very happy with this solid unit. The motor is quiet silent. Strength:
sound quality, volume control on remote
Weakness:
no power button on remote I just bought this piece the other day, lookin to scrap my Bose system and get seperate components, this was my first buy. The 4000ose brings out the details in the music, It has changed the way my bose system sounds, bass is tighter midrange is more present and highs are more distinct. I do not regret buying this piece, I wanted the best sounding changer I could get and I got it. The adcom is about $100 more but to me it doesnt compare. I got this unit for $470. It retails for $499. For some reason Marantz dealers are tight on their prices, but it was worth it. Some people complain about the remote, it just takes some getting used to, and the volume control on the remote is great, you can control the volume directly from the cd players remote.I can only imagine what it will sound like when i hook it up to some real speakers through an sr-8000 reviever. I highly reccomend this changer for anybody who takes their music seriously. Similar Products Used: Adcom cd changer |
