Finally got a real professional CDP. This is the top model from the Marantz Pro line. Its industrial standard transport is definitely the best part of this player. Doesn't matter what it's playing. You can feel the background is so quiet and carm. The sound is very transparent and probably this is what a Pro CDP should do - it doesn't color the sound in any way like a Hi-Fi cdp does. The staging is wide, enveloping, and well projected. Sounds smooth and lots of detail. The image of the instruments could be better defined when compare with my Rotel 991. Overall, this is a excellent cdp and it's a great transport as well. I guess the pricing of the Pro market is a lot more solid than the Hi-Fi market, you can get a lot more value out from the price you paid.
